Actually, I've been writing about this for years, then people started telling me that Nostr might be close and I should try it. Well, I've tried it now, and I've noticed a few things that need to change if it's going to succeed long-term, at least according to the use cases that are important to me and perhaps a billion other people. Some of those thoughts are captured here:
You can buy better phones for less money. There are more apps available. You can sideload apps that never made it into the Google Play store without jailbreaking your phone. It's an open system. You're funding a less authoritarian regime.
$AAPL is behaving like a British colonialist monarchy, taxing the life out of their subjects and branding anyone who circumvents their oppressive tax system "pirates". Sell that sh:t stock. They don't recognize individual liberty or sovereignty.

My sister lived on Oahu for a couple years. Her husband was a pilot for one of the local airlines flying cargo between the islands. I vacationed in Wailea/Kihei, Maui a long time ago. I miss it. I hope that coastal Hwy 30/340 around the Northwest of the island has been improved since then. That's a real white-knuckle drive!

Nevertheless, look at who still controls Russia & China after all these years. Although far Communist, the British monarchy has/had a pretty long reign. If you're hoping these regimes will collapse on their own, you could be waiting quite awhile.
