#Monero using #libertarian who loves computer networking, distributed systems, privacy tech, and testing beta software. I may not be a pro, but I can file a mean bug report. Yeah, they said their F-Droid repository broke, and they didn't care enough to fix it, even though lots of people want F-Droid access. then to make it worse they decided to move to a new app store called accrescent that allows closed source and proprietary software and uses a centralized repository where the government can request apps be removed or they can remove apps for political reasons or other reasons that they decide to whenever they want.

I would like to put forward Mysu by AnonContributorXMR as a possible alternative to Cake Wallet since they are going nuts, and Monerujo which rarely gets pull requests merged and seems mostly dead. Mysu is still beta but I think it could be a really great wallet if given a chance.

#Monero

I was thinking about this some more and it's definitely a bandwidth limitation because if I synchronize over the clear net it goes much much faster so clearly compute is not the bottleneck it's bandwidth.

I mean, I guess that's not bad for using a hidden service, but doing it over the clear net is way the hell faster than that.

I just did a test where I was able to synchronize 500 blocks per minute from my #tor hidden service #Monero RPC. So even leaving your wallet closed for 10 days is going to require 15 minutes to catch up.

Not according to what I understand from them, because that would break their security model. From what I understand, you can fork the application if you want and make your own repository, but you cannot use their logo or brand name, so you have to name it a different store entirely. So, like, Izzy could create one if they wanted to, but it would only have whatever repose they decided to put into it. But if I decided to add, say, Monerujo, I could not do so.

It's also centralized which leaves it vulnerable to app takedown requests from governments and app takedowns for political or other reasons.

I know for a fact that is not correct. It is not easy, granted, but it is possible.

After doing my own research, this seems like a very bad move because this repository is centralized, which means that it can be pressured by governments to remove apps or can remove apps for political or any other reasons they wish. If cake wallet is going to go this route, I'm probably going to end up leaving cake wallet.

Because they've lost their original digital currency narrative, so therefore, if the price does not keep going up, they have nothing.

But Monero will have more use in day-to-day transactions and therefore will be much more stable than Bitcoin could ever dream of being.

They have Stack Duo, but that still has the shit coin called Bitcoin in it. All I want is a Monero wallet. How hard is that to ask? LOL. Monerujo Is great, but I cannot recommend to my other blind friends because it's not totally accessible, If I want to use my own Tor node, it absolutely forces me to use Orbot instead of invizible, which is what I want to use. Mysu fixes the accessibility issues and lets me use the proxy I want but is not ready for daily use since it doesn't support multiple accounts and multiple wallets yet.

even stack duo has a shitcoin called bitcoin

I think I tried Stackwall at one point and I feel like it had a bunch of shit coins in it and I only wanted Monero.

I'd say my biggest gripe with them is that to use tor they absolutely fucking require orbot and I don't want to use orbot because I have invizible so I do not understand why I can't just put in my proxy settings myself. nostr:npub1y2k6v8rzlak8g0fgnqfsjf5hgsnckjgh9ff6gnzlv9ghv2qzzsjsqf5g4z

It doesn't appear as though they are updating the APKs. I just pulled up their repository and F-Droid shows that they were all updated nine months or seven months ago. But nothing newer than seven months. They seem to be updating the git though

oh, cool. Do you know if it supports sub-accounts yet? Because back then, it only worked with the primary account.
