I don't think its WoS. Its new 'fake' bots starting and trying to pull donations for spreading sats.
IMO we need to move beyond zapping for zappjng sake and put a use case behind it. I get the dopamine hit of zapping but I believe its not a long term sustainable use case
It's clogging up the notificwtion feed. 40+ peooke now on some notifications. Many replying to all where their sats are. And now there seems to he others that have taken the bot and deployed it. Its a nightmare as I see. No reason to create noise like it currently is. We are fighting spam but then creating more.

I was thinking of a quick and simple way to describe nostr to normies after fumbled attempts.
I think the simplest way is to say
"With nostr you are NOT the product"
In the future it may be "you are not the product unless you want to be" (ie selling your data).
All other details are important but secondary as I see it.
Other strong points
-freedom to post what you want
-you control your data
-no shady algorithms dictating what you see
-freedom to move between clients (platforms) as required and take all your data
-unstoppable payment rails built into the system natively
-an online space without walls. If you want to code or change something you have the power to do so within the community.

I'm not sure what the options in Damus are, but the goal is to remove arbitrary reading (e.g. for the global feed) from free relays.
In Amethyst, you can set free relays to write-only, so you won't read from them. In Snort, you can choose a relay to read for global feed.
You can also just remove free relays entirely, since you're getting them through the nostr.wine filter.
You can add other paid relays (without paying for them) and you will still see the content that is there. I recommend starting by:
- Remove all relays except nostr.wine & filter.nostr.wine
- Add top 10 paid relays (without paying if you don't want) from https://relay.exchange
See how that goes, and adjust as necessary.
