This is the thing, people think it can only affect EVs, but that's simply untrue. The modern ICE car is just as reliant on computers as any EV.

If enough of a demand emerges mechanics will absolutely fill it and it simply won't make business sense for manufacturers to play cat and mouse with hackers as their own customers resent them.

Vice is being a clickbaity calling it a "black market" though. It's a grey market at worst and even that would only be because it violates the ToS which is unenforceable in court.

Nothing illegal about hacking something you own. It's as much of a black market as ECU remapping.
