Get some help with Sparrow wallet and then get your stack into cold storage self custody. From there you can go multi-sig. You don’t have the keys yet, so they’re not yet your coins, if I understood you correctly.

Stop, pinch me. Remind me again that all this is good for bitcoin. I haven’t stacked hard enough.

Ah, Yellowstone! Many great places to spend time there too. Entering the park from the east you might go through Cody, Wyoming, named after William F Cody, a great marketer in his time. Absolutely deserves time spent there as well if for nothing more than the fly fishing waters around Cody. Hundreds of miles of rivers to sneak up from behind on fishies 🐟 for some catch and release. I can attest to some mosquito bites also during these! Definitely no AI back then! Imagine AI mosquito bites. ??😆

Fred, it’s about as real as it gets around here 🤣 🎪

Did you go through the Bighorns? I thought I recognized that view from your pic.

Just wanted to say greetings from Ohio. We homeschool and appreciate others who have tried and stuck with it. It’s truly a sacrifice but so worth it even if fruit of our labor isn’t seen for a long time. Carry on this strong and critical work moms and dads!! 🦾

Absolutely. What is so unreal is to see the same undeveloped land as they saw it. The Plains Indians varied in their response to the bands of people traveling to the West. Some of the stories can still be heard from by a few Rendezvous types that are still kicking around. I know one that taught Wyoming history at small schoolhouses that were still going as late as the 90s.

I think in his travels he is learning how very badass the individuals and families were who traveled cross country, through Indian territory, risking their very lives daily in pursuit of life liberty and property for their future generations

Not really a fan of it either. Kinda ruins the whole personal relationship with God. His word does tell us though, to fully grow in maturity we need to be connected to a church. My note would encourage one to visit a number of churches. Many churches are soft and water down the gospel, so those are not worth your time or your energy. There are some good ones though they don’t have neon signs. For some deep rabbit hole on theology, this sermon series is worthy of your time: Phil Kayser’s Revelation Project

If you’ve been to Wyoming you can see where wagon tracks went across the prairie. Near Casper there’s some amazing wagon ruts carved into the sandstone. To be appreciated, it must be seen in person. To your point, nostr is the amazing opportunity many are sleeping on

Today I visited a school for mentally challenged and disabled kids that didn’t have a lick of AC.

Classrooms do have ceiling fans but they do sweet fuck all when it gets to a certain temperature.

It was 35 degrees + humid today but felt like 42.

That’s like when you open the oven door to check on your chicken.. every time you step outside.

Why was I there?

Well bitcoiners at btccuracao funded the school’s brand new WiFi.

I wanted to see the impact of this donation and speak to a poorer community about their experience with btc.

Btccuraco paid the internet company that installed the WiFi in Sats as part of the donation. It’s one of many grassroots initiatives they undertake to try to show that bitcoin is better money.

The new WiFi is a total game changer for the school and the teachers were tearful explaining how much it has helped them teach, inspire and lead these less fortunate kids.

But it only goes so far.

The solar panels atop the school’s long roof “stopped working” this week.

A govt contractor installed the panels this year as a “go green” initiative.

Long story of govt enraging incompetence short, basically half the school had working WiFi + ceiling fans. Sometimes the electricity simply cuts out.

So one half of the school had classrooms of engaged kids with YouTube access + useful visual aids for the kids in a semi manageable heat

while the other half slowly cooked and tried to read books in the inferno.

My white shirt was wet and transparent by the time I finished the school tour. I was like how the feck are these kids gonna get a chance in life?

I interviewed the head of ICT who was gushing about the new WiFi and was saying how some of the kids can now learn to code with this Minecraft coding thing.

She had the biggest heart. But like many islanders she had been crypto scammed a few years ago and was still really reluctant about bitcoin.

Really saddening because of course no sane person thinks “oh yeah I’m gonna learn about bitcoin now I sold my gold necklace for a crypto thing 5 years ago and never got the money back.”

I managed to send her some sats to say thank you but if I’m honest I think it’s coz I was recording this during the interview.

In all, I left the school utterly humbled and a little bit angry at the world.

I don’t have a nice thing to round off on, sorry.

Bitcoin doesn’t fix everything. And some things utterly suck.

Does Starlink not help southern hemisphere and remote locations? I guess not

Hi new #nostr people,

Maybe some of you are wondering why do we need a new twitter clone? We already have farcaster, bluesky, etc?

Let me explain, so I experimented with this technology a year-ish ago. From what I understand, nostr is something different (please also correct me if I’m wrong). Nostr is similar to #bitcoin in a sense that this post and your profile and comments are saved in nodes which makes it hard for centralized entities to attack the network, because they have to 51% attack all the nodes

Why do we need this?

Well you know, you are probably here because of the #telegram issue, let me tell you, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Internet wasn’t how it used to be before big tech dominates the market, now they can just ban you and leave you hopeless

With nostr, when you have a relay node, you are the ceo of your company. You can technically ban your stalker ex gf from your relay node and poof she’s gone

Nostr gives you control over your social data, it might not be that important to you right now but it will soon be important with all the AI bots coming alive sucking all your data to learn to be you

I have big hope for nostr. Back then you couldn’t #zap and now it’s a feature. Again, it is a technology and it is growing pretty rapidly

Now you ask? How can I contribute? I have no tech skills

Well that’s the beauty of nostr, at the end of the day, nostr is a community. Think of nostr like a small commune. The most important thing is to invite people that matter to you because at the end of the day, that’s all that matters!

Leave a comment on this post after setting up your #lightning wallet, I’ll zap so you can try sending #sats to your friends risk free ⚡️⚡️

Hi fred, I’m a new Nostr guy too, and I remember before the internet, after it first started and now that’a it’s dominated by big tech. Trying to grow my network. Love this thing and hope it works
