commenting on other people's stuff is the way
think about it. there's no Discovery tool for people to find new accounts that are posting and everyone who is posting is starving for engagement.
This has been the same for growing an account on X, but it's even more drastic here.

Engagement farming is done the old fashioned way on Nostr. By engaging with the community yourself.
Absolute kryptonite for algorithm junkies who think engagement is something that's just given to them for speaking into the void.
When you have a big Twitter account, your incentive shift. You forget how you started by just commenting on everyone's stuff and yelling into the void
I think it's a 2 way street. You post to give the the community what you think they will like, laugh at, or just find educational and maybe even engaging and then you respond by commenting to others for your reasons stated.
which community is going to see your post though? You have to build a community first
Nostr is my only community as far as social media goes. Again, you build community as you post AND respond to posts. That’s the synchronicity we are all looking for.

I actually want to build a Discovery tool. I have a real open question though. If you could give a few sats to an open source DVM so it would index your content from a relay you supply and make it searchable, would any of you do it?

An effective search requires an index. In a decentralized system, the index can’t find all the content unless someone tells it where to look. Looking up content, indexing and storage take resources, so it can’t be done well or long term for free. I want to make a DVM that would take a npub and a list of relays and index the events for a fee. The same DMV would then serve the results of a search as a list of nostr events that match the query. Users keep the index alive by adding to it.

I'm not really focused on creating any profile here at Nostr. Just sharing some of "my stuff" and thoughts with whoever shows up. I like to pop in at least once a day for a few moments. I'll post something, share something, zap someone and repost something.
