Setting up a new lightning node after being hacked

I've tested some tools, but until now I didn't find one that is the "ultimate" one to give you the best results. There are many to be used.

Here is a list of tools maintained by nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qgcwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxg6tnda3x27fwv3jhvtcqyrh7t5fqmuxv9y86wjrj076943y8e2kngm20y2f6kp573uqlc5vczn845gx

The TLDR is quite simple to analyze a public peer:

- is it running on clearnet to be reliable?

- is it having good size of the channels with other peers?

- it brings to your node enough payments to be routed so will cover at least the costs of maintaining that channel with? Here you have to take in consideration the capital allocation.

- is it offering good fees for rebalancing?

- is it force closing your channels, accidentally or intentionally ?

And many other aspects that a peer should bring you benefits not just being a peer in your list.

Indeed many things to consider, and even more to learn. I had problems in the past with inbound liquidity I bought that was dead weight, I ended up closing the channels and it got better.

Totally agree but incentives are different for everyone, not just routing fees and not always monetary even. For builders with small projects it's normal to run a lightning node that is, at least temporarily, not profitable and many times not well optimized

Do you know of good tools or ways to test which channels are doing more harm than good, to find out which ones to close?

True that is not good to be connected to nodes that won't provide you that reliability and liquidity you need.

Maybe your node is optimized to the fullest and you have nothing else to learn? If that's the case it makes no sense for you to open random channels, but that's not my situation.

> LN is not Facebook.

😂 not disagreeing but funny statement.

> "I want to help the network"

I didn't say I want to help the network.

> doing more harm than good to the whole network

I'm not sure I agree with your statement and I'm not worried about the fragility of a distributed permissionless network tbh

I don't think primal wallet allows to pay posts directly 😉

saw your node, i'm not running tor. Do you have a clearnet IP?

Name a Lightning wallet that can pay to this many types of format

inbound liquidity WANTED 👀

who's running a Lightning node around here?

that's both beautiful and confusing 🥲

Do you want to open a channel with me? 🤲

Added some cool new features to nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7ct4w35zumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qpqqf9pur8yz8e8w78ap6255fx9x6xrakm2jgmqyv063l9365p7sdcs7adyk5. Not a bad Jan 1st 💪

Going to the gym on January 1st is non negotiable.

See you on the other side ✌️
