It's a feature do avoid cancel culture
If you have 100 posts but only got post 90, the post 90 will refer to 89, which refers to 88 and so on, until post 1. You may not find themz but you know that there are at least 90 posts.
It's not perfect and you should find a reliable serverz but I don't see how could it be better, as the sever might always trick you.
I think the best options would be to have a system that reports which severs are hiding info, so you can can avoid them.

Nostr assumes that servers have no reason to be reliable..so if you need w reliable one you should just look for one.
