Communism never died. It was just rebranded. nostr:note1gqdzd66pzuqradn9zx7hlf6en5l2ygg33nhg0fe7g3nandzfdxfser63mu
Im starting to believe that hypernostrization will happen before hyperbitcoinization.
1. The value of freedom of speech is far more understood than the value of sound money. I feel way more confident in my ability to purple-pill someone than my ability to orange-pill someone. Purple-pilling takes a few minutes. Orange-pilling takes hours, at least.
2. Debanking is far less common than banning on legacy social media. Most people don’t read and therefore dont learn from the pain of others. They won’t know the stove is hot until they touch it themselves.
It’s fairly common for posts to get flagged or taken down on legacy social media, but it’s much less common for someone’s bank account to be seized (at least for now).
Maybe if we see crazy high inflation and/or a reduction in internet censorship over the next few years, my opinon could change, but for now, I actually think that nostr’s trajectory is even more vertical than bitcoin’s.
New goal: read 50 pages per day
Have to start somewhere 📚
Do it. Worst case scenario, you have a great story to tell your future grandchildren.
Fiat ruins many things, but among the most egregious is elder care. Nursing homes do not cut it. You cannot pay someone else to care about your family as much as you do.
When they feed dogs raw food (natural) diets, they live 20-25% longer than dogs fed kibble (processed garbage). Same is probably true for humans. That takes you from your 80s to around 100
If your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize it, don’t eat it.
“At what exchange rate would you trade your self-sovereign, open-source money for fake, fiat paper?”
There’s no exchange rate where that is a good deal.
People only seek to understand bitcoin when they realize they need it. We realized we need it. They have not. Until they do, they will remain in the dark.
Currently wrestling with getting on zero with things like nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 Bill Pay while historically I have been accounting for every cent that comes in through YNAB and giving it a place.
If I store my checking account in Bitcoin, pretty much makes it impossible for me to budget the way I have been through YNAB.
Decisions decisions...
Fold might be the best of both worlds for you. You get to keep a checking account that I assume is compatible with YNAB and you also get the user-friendly conversions to BTC
Cancelled my BoA account last month, use Fold for all my fiat payments now. No regrets.
The first time I read The Fiat Standard, I skipped the chapter on Fiat Architecture. Just didn’t seem interesting/relevant. Now I get it…
Libertarians realize how wasteful spending is an injustice to the taxpayer. Completely valid. But the injustice to the worker who knows how useless their work is rarely discussed.
Bret Weinstein has some interesting thoughts on this. I frankly don’t know what to make of it.
Taleb has become one of my favorite writers. How did he not see through the COVID madness? How does he not get bitcoin?
It’s strange how no matter when you got in, you feel late.
I’m actually going to disagree with most people on this one. Despite his dumb statement, I still think Saylor is a force for good in the BTC world.
There are billionaires that provided value and billionaires that set up shop next to the money printer. They are not the same.
I plan on eventually getting a nostr:nprofile1qqs9df4h2deu3aae83fmet5xmrlm4w5l9gdnsy3q2n7dklem7ezmwfcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq5xamn8ghj7dnvv45xs7tywde8g6rpvakkjuekw46nvar4vdhxgan6wumkxatzwpckk6rk0puhjdm2da5k7ce5x4kkkumjx3jkzepwdahxjmmwqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wd9hxvmckqw0xz and would like to run my own lightning node using alby's new product but blackouts are fairly common where I live. What problems would I encounter with my lightning node and what are the recommended apps to download on a Start9? I know I'm downloading Bitcoin Knots for starters.
