i always try to save more than that but this last 2 months with the job winding down and the transition to the new place has seen me go a lot lower. but next few months should be better. i usually manage to keep about 1/3 of my income, definitely will be managing that now with my new rent price at 400eur/month. rental prices on this island are completely nuts. fortunately the owner doesn't have much costs with this place so he's charging a much nicer rate. also agents take a substantial cut, i'm dealing direct, under the table.
nah, it probably is just some shitty old wireless G adapter inside the computer, a wireless N or ac would probably work better. repeaters are quite expensive but that would also work. the dongle would probably be possible for like $15 - probably would have been the better option to start with. wireless-ac would definitely have no problem.
i was getting about 30% signal at 30 feet to a cheap tp-link dongle. i have a repeater and it went up to 70%. old wood door and steel reinforced concrete walls and i have 50% from the same spot with a mobile phone acting as my router. old phones can be good wifi dongles too. many people have them sitting around (i have two spare), just plug in the USB and you get a bit more scope to play with the position of it to get better signal. the only downside of the phones is having them constantly plugged in without rooting them to get charge control they can bloat up the battery and pose an eventual fire hazard.
to be honest, the better option for a mempool display would be a rooted android tablet with charge controller installed.
anyway, that might inspire some options to fix the problem. moving the router is another one too, it might just need to be a foot to the left and suddenly it's better.
the more money is printed, or credit is issued, the more likely that bad bets will be made because of the lower opportunity cost. that's what we see with bullcrap like the current AI boom. keynesian economics incentivises just moving money around to make business look bigger than it actually is. usually somewhere in it someone is taking the piss and they end up being sacrificed on the altar of "oh, it was just this bernie madoff guy, not central bank credit policy".
well, probably a better router will help, or a USB dongle or a cable :) usually such things would be best placed near the router anyway.
no idea what the situation is of course but happy block watching. the next block restructure animation is pretty cool.
there is weak and stronger wifi antennas tho. look in the specs for their dB gain figures. the router usually will be good at picking up weak signals and adapting power to make the connection the other way, if the antenna is sensitive. usually the better ones are thicker and longer also.
they don't put fancy wifi modules in them and single antenna is not so great for long range when there is lots of metallic or microwave reflective materials around them (metal mostly).
i made a dumb and simple thing that does something that i've wanted since i started using Go:
it just automagically clones github repos using the default SSH clone path into your $GOPATH
e.g.:
clone.mleku.dev github.com/example/awesomeproject
will clone the project into:
$GOPATH/src/github.com/example/awesomeproject
i keep all my repos like this so they are orderly. the path is precisely the same as the go imports, which are the same as the repo's front page. makes it simple also to remember where they come from so you can easily go straight to the repo.
doesn't work for redirected or non-github-style ssh clones but it works for github anyway. would take a lot more logic to handle that. like, for example, fetching the path to grab the actual path if it's a go vanity import, but place in the go vanity import.
i just wanted something that makes it easy for me to grab github repos so i can open them in my IDE and read the code with all the indexes of symbols done and jump around to see what is what, and to keep my collection of repos that i want to look at, tidy.
a lot of people believe the communist propaganda that savers are hurting society.
it's literally the opposite. money that isn't being spent, drives up the value of money that is being spent. money that is saved, can then later be used to fund enterprises that increase efficiency (very often efficient production has a higher initial startup cost) and then the cost of an item on the market drops and that frees up people's money to spend on other things.
i mean, it's so duh, but this is what they teach in the clown schools.
saying saving isn't a use of money is keynesian bullcrap.
same shit as "but he's not using the house, he should give it away" bitch, property rights matter. if my house can be expropriated so can my life. who wants to live in a society where slavery is ok?
stupid agorists believe this bullcrrap as well. bitch, go fucking find your own patch and work it if that's what you believe in. respect for property rights is the basis of civilization.
the only situation in which any person should forfeit property is when that property was unjustly aquired. eg: expropriation. aka stealing. aka "squatting" if a standing claim on property exists, it has been rightfully acquired because you don't get a title deed when there is liens on it.
yeah i still have to actually look at it lol.
also, direct debit is a dark pattern in my opinion. that's why i devised the scheme of "only visible to you" kind 1s. the user can just send whatever sats and get whatever period. it's cheap so it's trivial to think about. the idea would be that users would prefer to buy 3 months blocks or so at a time anyway. then, a week out from expiry a message appears that only they can see, that mentions them as well to ensure it comes up in notifications, reminding them to top up.
my post-paid phone service bugs me every month about shit but it does allow me to pay 3 months into my account at a time. making it lower friction would be a client side thing, where it just automatically triggers a zap periodically and maybe alerts the user if the balance of the account is too low to make the zap, purely client side of it. i don't think people would really be that bothered by whatever payment period they prefer, that's the point of it, basically works out to, at current bitcoin price, something like 200 sats a day, like 13 cents or something. as the bitcoin price goes up, their subscription would automatically extend as it would bill on a daily basis according to the exchange rate. i mean, or you could just have it fix a period. idk, the current design that was made just converts whatever the price is to the period. but if you model the micro-account as sats and change the per day price based on the exchange rate, they would wind up very often with overall a benefit to pay ahead, then you would get people deciding to opt for an annual payment and just zap 72000 at once and most of the time that would work out to like 13-14 months actually. there's options for the calculation, i think working it as a micro account is more friendly, and you can also then create an option where they can cancel and refund automatically as well, and get their remainder zapped back.
i like that idea of it being a kind of custodial account like that, i have used several VPS services that accept crypto payments but you have to hassle them to refund and cancel. i think people would like the "sats based" option in that they can get their sats back whenever they decide they don't want the service... and jump back in just as easily. having to contact customer service to get advance balance back, and it being denominated in fiat, is ugh. i can't help but think of the fact i paid when the price was lower for the sats and then my refund they are basically, if they stacked it, making money off me.
also pets, just sayin'
christians and jews talk a lot about the meme of shepherding and its importance, and the burnt offerings referred to frequently especially in genesis actually literally means bbq offered to visitors. the civilization of the "angels" basically invented herding especially cattle, but i think it probably started with goats and sheep, because they would have had to develop much greater stature and strength to domesticate the wild cattle. wild cows are hella dangerous, just think of the whole meme of the cowboy and the lariat to catch them by their horns and tether them to a tree or other stiff and strong anchor in the ground. in wild herds, there is a lot more bulls than in domesticated herds, we have to castrate them while they are young or they become uncontrollable. the neutered males and the females are both quite placid and easy to control, nervous, even.
btw, the indians talked about Krishna and Indra, these guys were from this race of humans. the reason why the hindus venerate cows so much is because their milk is the most powerful food available to humans who have the lactose tolerance switch disabled. see, they are mostly brown, too, so you can't tell by skin color necessarily. the pale skin does give an advantage as well, people with pale skin absorb more energy from the sun, especially red and green spectra.
yay, got the faster vodafone mobile network now, running it on my motorola G51 because it has 5g and from the window in the between-room on the first floor there is line of sight to the nearest tower across the valley. it gets about 40mbit down/30mbit up. about 1/3 better than what we were getting before. will be much better when there is cable tho. that should be at least 100mbit symmetric if not 500/100 like i had in boaventura
they are the seed of the nephilim, from hybrid with the "iberomarussian" (northwest africa, southern spain) who are taller, paler skin, bigger brains, and the first level hybrids with plain homo sapiens were the "giants" of genesis and other stories (eg, the epic of gilgamesh etc).
that pride and envy and greed is part of their cult creed.
pretty much, the genetic markers of it are pale skin and lactose tolerance. something like 70% or more of the human population is partly from their genetics. being able to drink milk is a huge advantage, it increases stature and strength.
it's a central point in Icke's work, the bloodlines. they have to maintain it, that's why there has often been the retards like GWB and various other ones in history with diseases of inbreeding.
he's totally a CIA asset. they have been running that country since 2014
yeah, that comparison with an immature child is quite apt. except i wouldn't call the child a rabid animal that needs to be put down.
we could call the war in ukraine the second crimean war. crimea is central to mister casual's demands for "his" land back.
or they are running around trying to orange pill everyone.
lol. out on the street doing violence is only the latter kind.
the former kind mostly live on homesteads and never bother anyone unless they get on their lawn, who were breaking the NAP.
not until i get money again tho... can't do any work until a colleague comes back from vacation because i sure as fuck can't make any sense of the codebase i'm supposed to work on. i'm not sure that doing front end dev was really a good idea but i want to be able to, it's just, every time i touch javascript it's an extremely difficult and frustrating experience to get anything to work at all, let alone how it is intended to.
the catholics did not disagree with gallileo because they thought the earth was flat. they just thought that the earth was the center of the universe.
it's a specious argument because although the sun is bigger than the earth, is it necessarily so that "earth is orbiting the sun" or is there a bidirectional relationship?
further, the whole notion of a "center of the universe" is also quite specious because we have never seen the edge (is this sounding familiar) and so how do we know that space itself isn't a 4d hypersphere like the surface of the earth is a 2d surface on a sphere.
because if it is, then there is no center to the universe the same way as there is no centre to the surface of the earth. it's unbounded. you can't have a center without edges.
yeah, their minds are broken. they don't have the slightest ability to reason.
everyone who is in a cult thinks everyone else is in a cult.
the nonsense this ben weirdman is spouting doesn't comport with physics or mathematics and empirical measurements.
see, you won't even bother to check whether what i say is true, but get on a plane, make a pendulum with a piece of string and some balanced piece of weight thing. to get gravitational vertical. then get a straight object and hold it at 90 degrees to the pendulum, and sight your eyes along it like it was a gun sight. you will notice that when you are at 30,000ft in the air, the horizon is below the horizontal as reported by the pendulum.
so, yeah, anyway, this flat earth bullshit is not a cult. it's a joke being run by the CIA to play with their power about how gullible people are.
you only need basic highschool physics, chemistry and mathematics to destroy every claim of FE ninnies.
yeah, there can't be uniform gravity on a disc either. so why does 1kg of weed weigh 1kg all over the planet, give or take a few milligrams (the earth's mass is not uniform, neither is its magnetic permeability.
also, this is why i stopped following you. you are one of those contrarians who want to believe something different just to distinguish yourself as being somehow "in the know"
i'm happy enough to debunk actual bullshit like that CO2 and methane cause warming and the planet earth is not throughout most of its history freezing cold, and that it was a lot hotter earlier in the holocene.
yeah, portal 1 and 2 are both pretty low spec requirements. both quite old based on the source engine used for HL2. pretty much playable at over 60fps on most current bottom-end onboard intel integrated intel GPUs at like 2k resolution
and yeah, idk about 3 hours, maybe, if you have a walkthrough guide. the storyline is pretty hilarious. the AI goes psychotic of course, in both episodes
don't go all FE on me now
gravity isn't just falling down when you get lifted upwards away from teh ground. it also is why driving really fast and hitting something is so lethal - because of the mass. what hurts is caused by the mass, this is one of the parts of gravity that non-physicists don't understand.
the thing that causes inertia is related to the thing that makes objects move towards each other in space. it's my personal hypothesis that it's a surface tension effect, and that all matter has an invisible cloud of electrons in long orbits (like how comets are in long orbits, and the perseid and taurid and leonid meteor swarms). the clouds of two bodies of matter when they come into contact try to optimize their surface like how two drops merge into one, at first it's a barbell shape, and then the shared surface pulls everything in the middle of it together to become a sphere, which is the optimum shape for resisting ...
the resistance that gravity creates is against space itself, which is also a form of matter, that has no elasticity and is constantly increasing in every direction. the surface tension effect is created by this constant pressure trying to push matter apart, and those clouds of electrons are part of the mechanism that pushes matter back together at the same rate, thus retaining the geometric relation between all the particles in bodies of matter.
i'm actually not a fission, fusion or antimatter fan. i think that all energy comes from that expansion of space, and with the right device, you can redirect that energy to create a "bubble" of space around you that behaves in the same exact way as a single "particle" of space. thus it has no mass, it is inelastic, and it cannot be involved in a collision because it has no mass, and it has no limitation of light speed, because it has no mass (if m == 0, then the energy also becomes zero).
that's my theory anyhow. i've been ruminating on this one since i created these images
https://www.flickr.com/photos/47065683@N00/77738769/in/photostream/
there is others in that set, but this one is the prettiest and this shows the nucleus of a gravitational mass center, and the way that matter directs the expansion force through channels fanning outwards in every direction, via the mechanism of those quantum nullified electrons in the long orbits
so yeah, i also think that creating that gravity effect involves electricity. i've got a theory that it can be built using a modified tesla coil with a resonant cavity coated with diamagnetic material, that tunes the output of the tesla coil to convert normal electrons into these "mass" electrons. but that's as far as i have got with designing an experiment. it's inspired by the Emdrive, which normally uses microwaves and a resonator but this uses tesla waves (which are higher energy configurations of electrons much shorter wavelength than microwaves, think femtometres).
ok, i've fixed all the builds so they work, but the actual benchmarks, it doesn't seem to be running the relays for the benchmark to connect to.
#ORLY #devstr #progressreport
so, after discovering how much orly was spending time marshaling events for logs that weren't printing or weren't needed, and seeing the harm it did to performance, i've fixed that.
i'm looking forward to nostr:npub1acr7ycax3t7ne8xzt0kfhh33cfd5z4h8z3ntk00erpd7zxlqzy3qrn2tqw getting the benchmark refactored into a docker container and seeing the results.
i already know that relayer is appalling, and strfry is piss-poor, but i'm pretty sure orly performs better with lower latency than khatru, which is the best relay of the lot in the initial test results.
it was literally marshalling events like 3-4 times during reqs and event submissions all over the place and in the case of a mass upload that's gonna definitely ding the speed.
khatru does 9500 events/s on what is obviously better hardware than mine, on my rig it gets 7700 events/s on publish. so i'm expecting orly will be doing something like 12000 maybe, could be more. might be a bit less, so, anyhow, i will see soon.
after that setup is done to run the tests in a docker i'm gonna see about adding the rust relay so we can really see what is what.
i'm betting that the rust relay will turn out to not be much faster than the go relays, or even it might be slower, and will definitely be higher latency and slower with bursts. you just can't beat coroutines. get with the program, people. how about you cut out half of your retarded language and replace it with coroutines and channels.
latency matters more than throughput for network apps and for UIs. it is only for stuff like bulk conversion of data formats that throughput matters.
nostr:npub1x458tl7h9xcxa66vr4a8pg0h2qz96pnhwnfpcra0le9090uk5t5qw7armt is apparently on the same trip you are on, nostr:npub1nf9vm6uhs4j7yaysmjn9eqlf7et5t6hvrkdqgpd995vcc9yfjyas0pxa3x . 😂
The person he's replying to is interesting, as they apparently view remaining "independent" as some sort of strength, whereas I associate it with choosing the easy life.
yeah the point about how the pill screws up a woman's desire in type of man is one of the worst things about it. i watched this happen over and over again in my teens and 20s. it's disgusting that doctors give this stuff out like lollies. one of the bazillion things that is disgusting about modern drug-oriented surgery-oriented medicine.
well, the option isn't available anyway
Stella is quality
people who use mostly nostr apps are using better auth than normies also. JWT is equivalent but almost none of the big sites use it except devs and infra stuff. this puts us clear out front ahead of this kind of stuff. and devs who understand that you must use PKI for auth also tend to know the attack vectors. so we don't tend to use vulnerable stuff like html and some, at least, understand that zapping is the answer to the problem of advertising which often is an attack vector in normieweb. plain text, asymmetric cryptography and not using cloud LLMs.
shit is gonna get really freakish for normies with LLMs in the mix. they are all gonna get fleeced and a few will actually get some schooling. since normies are too busy in the rat race, i personally only care about the ones who are open to a schooling.
my father used to say
what's that enaidov
and i never got it
then i learned
what's that in aid of
non-custodial social accounts will probably end up being treated the same way.
