I was amazed at how much air was leaking out with the positive pressure from the miner fans. I was able to seal it up much better than it was.
Borrowed a manure spreader to fertilize winter pasture

Each winter we setup a long term paddock for the sheep on the weakest pasture. In the past, we have planted turnips in the paddock as winter feed to extend the grazing season.

This year we are spreading horse manure on the pasture thanks to our neighbor lending us his tractor and spreader. The pasture is about acre and it took about 5 loads to get full coverage.

Instead of plowing or discing the field to get it ready for planting the winter seed mix, we are trying to over graze the pasture with our rams and horses. Then we will broadcast seed, hopefully in the rain.

SWMI Bitcoin meetup tonight at Dwellers Co-working Space in Benton Harbor at 6:30pm. Come get a free sats card and hang with us!!
Awesome that you are running a node, I haven't had time to dive into that rabbit hole yet. Honestly seems more complicated than mining to me. I like the nuts and bolts aspect of mining. Connecting to a pool and monitoring diagnostics is fairly simple. My approach to mining is to take any electric heat source I am already using and use a miner to create that heat instead. The mining on its own isn't profitable but when capturing the value of the heat as well all the sudden the appliances and applications become much more efficient. A dehydrator that uses 1kw of power vs a dehydrator that uses 1kw of power and mines Bitcoin is now getting two uses for that energy input. If you use a FPPS pool like Lincoin then the miner will be earning sats as long as it's hashing. Even though the flow of sats is small and intermittent, over time it does add up to be a significant rebate on the power usage. Plus it's kyc free Bitcoin!

Still a bit out of the budget for this project. If I can't figure something else out with what I already have then I might break down and buy one of these.
Take off the fans and throw in one of these
AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S6, Quiet 6” Inline Duct Fan with Speed Controller, EC Motor - Ventilation Exhaust Fan for Heating Cooling Booster, Grow Tents, Hydroponics https://a.co/d/9gAfnOs
If I can't figure out something with what I have then I may just have to part with the sats for one of these.
No, I hadn't considered that! I'm going to start by putting the miner in a cooler to see if that reduces the sound to a reasonable level. If that doesn't work I might try putting the miner outside, great idea!
I'm hungry for sats and thanks to permaculture I can find ways to mine even though my power costs are higher than the national average. Thanks man!
Bitcoin Mining Clothes Dryer
https://i.imgur.com/w4lVCSN.mp4
Here at the homestead we host guests at our house as well as a 20ft yurt so one of the largest power usages is the electric clothes dryer. In the busy season, the dryer is usually running for several hours a day. It made a lot of sense to use a Bitcoin miner for the heat instead of the heating element in the dryer.

I tried to use what I already had as much as possible to connect the miner to the dryer, so for less than $100 I was able to make it work. Basically needed a 20a 220v breaker and 220v outlet plus some ductwork. I simply cut a hole in the heating duct in the back of the dryer and attached a 6in duct coupling to it. If I need to I can cap off the coupling and continue to use the dryer as normal. Basically if the Bitcoin miner breaks down I won't be stranded without a dryer.

To operate, I set the dryer to timed dry, set the heat to air dry, and turn on the miner. After using it for a dozen loads or so it definitely works well. Next I will be working on how to reduce the noise from the miner fans but to start I wanted to make sure it was capable of drying laundry first. Feels good to get sats back for one one of the largest power usages on the homestead!

Katahdin hair sheep moving to fresh grass after 4 days grazing thistle.
https://i.imgur.com/RXo3aAB.mp4
The sheep ended up tolerating the thistle for a full 4 days but they are ready to get back to eating the luscious clover and grass they are used to. I'm thinking they can graze this paddock for 3 days because it got almost 60 days rest from last grazing.

This is the last paddock in this pasture even though it was the first in the last pass. We changed up the grazing pattern and grazed it backwards from last time. By grazing in the opposite direction, we had better path to pull shade shelter, milking stanchion, and water all together. Creatively use and respond to change.

Rabbit kit eating cannabis
https://i.imgur.com/ZnuYZaC.mp4
Even the slightest protruding leaf of the cannabis plants gets quickly nibbled away by the rabbits. Soon the plants will be tall enough to spread branches out higher than the reach of the rabbits. We are going to have to start harvesting rabbits soon by the look of the numbers in the colony. The older males will start fighting for territory and that's when we know it's time.

Ladybugs and larva protecting cannabis from pests

Seeing lots of ladybugs and larva on the cannabis. There must be plenty of aphids for them to eat. Thankfully it seems like the ladybugs keeping everything in balance and the plants are looking healthy.

The rabbits are also very healthy and we are starting to harvest them now. This one is a perfect example of what we are look for.

Pelts are clean and fluffy and livers look good too.

Yes, this small version is working so well I'm planning on making a much larger one with a new gen asic. On the other hand, I've considered a solar dehydrator but I'm not sure how well it works in fall when temperatures can be cooler, weather is more cloudy and rainy at that time of year too. The apples and pears won't wait for the right weather conditions.
I'm definitely an amateur just doing what seems intuitive. Do you think keeping the males in small pots to hinder thier growth will lead to small plant genetics? I'm trying to encourage large vigorous growth in the genetics.
I've only been using the wallet connect function for a few hours though...
I've had one failed to find route error so far.

Volunteer dill in the bitcoin mining dehydrator

Grew a good patch of dill last season which we used fresh to make pickles. This year a bunch has volunteered and is ready before the cucumbers.

I harvested most of it leaving a few behind in hopes that it continues to reseed itself.

Ran it through the Bitcoin mining dehydrator so now we have dill to make pickles when the cucumbers come or whatever else we might want to use it for.

Let me know when you have seeds for sale.
I've been enjoying the mullein I harvested a few weeks ago. I find myself smoking it alone often. I need to start experimenting with some smoking blends.
I need to I get my hands on some bee balm and marshmallow. So many cool plants our there to play with.
Do you have any yarrow going?
What is going to be the main harvest for the market? Anything surprising you with how well it's doing?
Started off the third grazing loop for the Katahdin hair sheep in the woods.

This paddock had just over 40 days of rest before the sheep returned to graze again.

They ate not only the grasses but also the leaves off the young trees as well.

I broke the tops of the sapling trees down to give them extra food and to let more light in so more grass can grow.

Looks like the clover I broadcast late winter is starting to take hold in this paddock. It's amazing how quickly it can transform with only a handful of times grazing the sheep through.
