A low-fi audiozine that puts the punk back in cypherpunk.

Find anything good? I have a soft spot for bossa nova, which maybe I (stereotypically?) Associate with that area.

If the problem is, is the thing I downloaded the thing I'm going to boot and the issue is you don't trust the thing you downloaded the software on, then the only way to solve is to use a separate device.

Like on a different laptop read the sd card and verify it.

But this is kinda moot anyway. Just download the image onto a reasonable machine. I.e. boot tails, download seedsigner, verify on tails, and then flash.

I would say a CD is cooler than a microsd. Nobody shows off their microsd collection.

I might be a little skeptical of how the write once is done in the firmware of microsd controller, but ultimately yes, they are equivalent.

That ATEM hdmi switch is so nice. I've been rocking the mini pro since covid.

Oh nice. I think it's more what you prefer. That's what I'm finding out. The tape medium really let's you dial it in.

The deck, the tape, the level, hell maybe even the time of day all make an impact on the recording.

For me, this is a feature not a bug.

I'm happy to see another tape head here!

I like the hiss. Dolby noise reduction works well however and has its own effect. I actually sometimes like to listen with NR on. The hiss goes away and its quite clean.

But recording with it on and listening to it off creates some artifacts.

I was tempted to get a dbx box but then I'm like, why don't I just make a CD?

Did you see the notes tho? Could be like that big lebowski scene where the guy is writing on the notepad. But when the dude goes over to see the impression it wasn't what he expected...

I have an idea for nostr:nprofile1qqs09jtvjlmyrxjn37zv70a89csegcz7rpyqjmnw29cveedhv7vagqqprpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuendwsh8w6t69e3xj7302gfp7r. There's a concern that the seed signer doesn't verify its own firmware. Which, as I understand it, it's because the human writes the SD each time.

Other wallets verify their firmware with a signature. But that's not entirely the truth. Because the bootrom of the microcontroller typical inherently trusts the user bootloader in flash. So what verifies that on boot? Nothing. It's assumed secure because it's hard to access in flash (which is not true see the recent book on Microcontroller Exploits by Travis Goodspeed).

So here's the idea: boot from a CDROM. It's how we used to do it. The image doesn't change. It might need a modification to uboot and the kernel to allow the cdrom file system, but it should be possible.

It also supports seed signers goal of obfuscation. It will appear like the user is just into CDs.

Oh yeah?! You'll be live? How do I listen?

I have too many electronic hobbies, I can't get into modular sythns... yet πŸ˜€

Looks amazing

I'm making a mixtape for my kids to listen to while studying. Any other suggestions?

I think they like these random lowfi beat channels on YouTube, but I'm trying to expand their palate.

I started with Brian Eno, but I'm not versed in this genre.

Ohh, this is great. I feel "consume" content was supposed to be an ironic statement. But then people use it now unironically, which is sad.

How are you running ltngstore? Is it wordpress with the btcpay plugin and then you feed the data to merch store for fulfillment? It's well done. I'm considering doing something similar for cassettes perhaps.

I'm intending to populate my nostr:npub1pr4du5xl28dy5sh4msz9uddnwxgzupkk4qzjzklv84edc6ruevzqlxmkzp site www.agichoote.npub.pro

so I'm going to spam some #agichooteart today

I think you have to drop the www part, otherwise I just get a broken xml.

I'm working on my number station article today for the next zine. I do my first drafts in emacs still and then I narrate them.

If you want to be on the tape, submissions are always open! I think each tape so far has more contributors than the last.

The audio can be pretty much anything but definitely the more experimental is best suited for a cassette medium.

As one tapehead put it, "I'd rather listen to a backyard production of star wars recorded to cassette than studio music."

This issue has so far: a radio drama, 2 spoken word pieces, generated music, a cool sstv submission, and working on some poetry submissions.

If you need inspiration, listen to the Tellus audio magazine from the 80s: https://www.ubu.com/sound/tellus_5-6.html
