Did you guys ever come across Xanadu (uh, concept?), or OpenXanadu (the example app)? 🤣 I am infatuated with the idea of transclusivity and you guys are pioneering in that way for sure.
I wanted to write more in my article, about Brainstorm and GitCitadel but I needed to keep things simple, for exactly the same reasons you mention. I come from a place of desiring sovereign speech and eradicating user data from backend silos. I think I'm far more of an independent journalist than a developer, but I've always been into the coding stuff. Wanted to make video games a long time ago, so eventually might get back to that. In the mean time, just publishing one long-form article was questionable at best.
All I really see missing from the GitCitadel ecosystem is a local-forward frontend with support for different views. Of course, I'm championing the idea of LogSeq type of views, but I mentioned to JD/will that users really desire a flexible application that can swap freely between Markdown editing and.. whatever LogSeq does.. graphing nodes? Or whatever.
I am going to try and work with Jumble.social tomorrow and maybe host my own instance of it for directly interfacing with my relay.tools instance, so users will actually be able to just hop on to the same conversations, with nip-42 auth. We are getting really close to a great place, I think.
Also me rn:

I agree totally. I think there is an over-arcing theme of relationships that dictate how incentivized we are to display validation, and in what ways.
No no, what I'm saying is I may like the content, but I choose to not utilize the reaction emojis, because I don't know the user who posted. So, if something is interesting or funny enough, I will react. But sometimes I think "I don't know this person, so I will just keep scrolling."
Unrealized meme potential is real.
Oh I agree totally! In fact, I'm really glad you posted this. I think I forgot to tag you in my recent article! I'll tag you now!
I find myself frequently deciding to "not like" content that is boosted. Not because I didn't like the content, but because I don't have any established relationship with the original author. Some likes are about validating the note- others are about validating the author.
What I can't wrap my head around is who would want to live in a world where zaps are the only way to measure validation? Yikes. Could not be me. 😋
I only recently saw Alexandria and am checking it out again now. The visualizer is so interesting 🤣 LogSeq has a sort of feature like this, but it isn't.. wiggly. I'm having fun moving isolated chapters around anyways 😆
All of it is very cool. I will definitely be looking more closely into all of it in the coming days.
Why are you even awake lol 😆 read the article if you got time. I'm in corny if you're bored
#Nostr wasn't created without risk.
It's risk that will keep taking us forward.
I sure wish I had a better answer for you. I intended to start by copying Amethyst and building an Android client with the Quartz library. That led me to instead focus on a local desktop client, as I feel the Progressive Web App ecosystem is not particularly valuable compared to local clients. In theory it should not be too difficult to publish or report different relay configurations between different clients, from desktop to mobile for instance, we just haven't seen much in the way of local clients yet, besides Gossip for instance.
While frameworking my app, it occurred to me that my LogSeq-style application (parent goal) is totally feasible within my simple Nostr client. It's just a matter of time before we have something much more tangible for mobile, I think. As far as using this isolated relay from mobile, Amethyst is the only way I know how. I think I identified another npub who is eagerly searching for some community to join in this regard, so hopefully we see another user on-boarded tomorrow. Woo!
I am posting this note from Jumble.Social to test out the relay controls. So far it seems very promising and I would recommend trying it out to get a feel for an isolated relay experience from a working browser client.
I'm trying to assemble people to develop this myself. I think GitCitadel will be future cooperatives. I'll tag you in the article I wrote up today about it.
This is really interesting. Could prove to be integrated with what I'm trying to make. LogSeq references itself internally and externally as well I believe. Can already imagine how this might used in the future.
