2026 - Reject Surveillance. Embrace Freedom.
It will be a transition for us all, but very quickly is the world waking up to the fact that they have been lied to for generatio—their entire existence. Looking back you could say it's been a slow transition and process, but I think we are going to see rapid acceleration as there has never been lower trust towards governments, banks, global corporations, specifically referring to the "tech oligarchs" and all of the mainstream applications we have been using for years as more or less a global standard.
PS: Grok quit fucking labeling me as anti-establishment. It is about accountability, objective truth, and trust. It is not about attacking people or entities in positions of power just because of some petty reason or you are jealous of their lives... quite the contrary, the people who should be elected in positions to serve their communities are not and we are left with those on their knees to the highest bidder—political prostitutes. Though we walk in darkness, it does not mean we seek nor comply to live in a society without truth, good moral values, and accountability for our actions. The power has and will always be in the people, the collective, the united communities.
Predictions
My predictions *oOoOo look ma, am an oracle* for 2026 are that we will begin to see a lot of revolts, specifically towards those who aim to oppress and contribute towards the degradation of society, good values, and our basic human rights. There will be a massive pivot away from the Googles and Microsofts towards free, open-source technology that has contributors and peer review from around the world. The false narrative and smokescreen of "privacy is for criminals" will no longer exist and people will see this as a basic, fundamental human right. Using privacy-focused apps will be the norm like having doors on houses for the past ~4,000 years. People have always valued privacy, but the issue is not only that we willingly compromised security and privacy for convenience, most of us were simply unaware of other options and the risks that followed.
Start Now
You can immediately begin by firstly deleting old data from services you've used for longer than you can count. Delete the accounts, apps, emails, delete the photos and videos, delete all unnecessary digital baggage. Go back and change your profile picture(s) to something irrelevant and input a made up name on your devices, accounts, and apps. Standardize the process of protecting your privacy and never giving more information than you have to. Identity theft, fraud, and data breaches have never been at higher levels than now. Privacy is not about doing something shady, it's about protecting your data and life. *There is no guarantee any of your data is truly wiped clean from the internet, safe to assume it is recoverable or it is not completely purged, but you can at least aim to reduce the impact. There is no better feeling than a well needed digital Spring cleaning, thank me later.
The More You Know
Stay up to date with technology, privacy, and security by following some people, organizations, and platforms that make their lives about educating others on the latest news, advancements, breaches, exploits, and so on. You don't have to have accounts on social media to view most of the content anyways, there are always work arounds.

Start Using Alternative Apps
Enjoy embarking on a new journey of discovery. Once you open yourself up to the world and break outside of your bubble of comfort, you will find apps you never knew existed that you've dreamed of, wished for, and fall in love with. There are great people and projects out there, but of course most of their effort is likely on the product and not the distribution and marketing... so you've never heard of it. Going to start sharing of more apps I have started using in the past year and any new ones that I find with you all. There is nothing more that I love to give the well deserved, positive exposure to good teams and projects that have spent years building something incredible, but no one has ever heard of it.
FOSS community on the rise...
Here is a list of some of the recent apps and protocols I've really started enjoying more in the past year. Not swearing by any of these lol, just check them out and see if you like them and they are suitable for you.

Conclusion
Wishing you all the best in 2026 and look forward to connecting with more of you that share the same interests and values. Absolutely amped and ready for what awaits, so much creative energy brewing... especially at FormlessLabs with nostr:nprofile1qqsdzvlvkzvk8flh5uzm7fgryj3zdl9vhag7hfhskxuhm7xqjvu2fjqz2tsc6 Always on the look out for great projects and people who need help and find ways to contribute my time, designs, and resources. You live and you and learn, but this year is about learning from action—the doing. The failing. The realizing. The iterating. The optimizing. The succeeding. Blessings 🤍

Well stated, I think most of us feel this way. Haven't really even found one nostr-based social media platform I like. They are incredibly broken and inconsistent due to the nature of what you shared. Are you a UX/UI dev as well nprofile1qqsggxcp04ylsggcsx3r4j7sq2lmqlqdnsxhyrz2n8zzv62930cwuwg5yjvle?

Decentralized gaming now being tested on Vector. No blockchain, no servers, no bullshit.... well lag, that's still bullshit. Local/Regional gameplay is perfect. Playing halfway around the world is not optimal, but still playable. Ping obviously offers massive advantages in fast-paced FPS games.

🟢 [ V E C T O R ] Open Beta v0.2.2
>>> https://vectorapp.io <<<
We are happy to share with you all the latest release—weeks worth of polish, updates, and improvements. From a complete database rewrite, to new features, bug fixes, and a smoother user experience. It will be a significant and noticeable change, especially for Group Chats and visiting the Settings tab.
💡 Feature Spotlight: Android Support
We have now released the public Android APK that has been officially published on GitHub. There is also mobile support via the website (listed above), where you’ll find a download button for your Android device.
Development Updates:
New:
📲 Android APK: the first public Android APK is now available for Vector!
📦 Storage Manager: a Settings section that gives a glance-able breakdown of Vector's storage usage.
👥 Primary Device Setting: a new setting that allows you to set a device to receive future Group Invites.
💽 New Database: Vector now uses SQLite (w/ encryption layer) for ultra-fast, reliable, compact persistence.
Improved:
🛜 Faster Synchronization: parallel processing enables Vector's syncing to be noticeably faster.
📂 New File Attachment Design: a significant design overhaul when transferring non-media files.
👤 Profile Shortcuts: in the Group Overview, you can now click on anyone to visit their profile.
📨 Profile Message Shortcut: you can now hit "Message" on anyone's profile to jump straight in their DMs.
⚙️ Settings Dangerzone Redesign: a beautiful Settings polish, along with a redesign of The Dangerzone.
💌 New Invite Design: incoming invitations look significantly nicer. (and the 'Notif Dot' displays on Pending Invites!).
🖼️ Improved Popup UI Design: a well-needed polish to an old UI flow.
📝 Improved Selection Highlights: a Vector-esque Gray is now used for the Selection Highlight colour.
Fixed:
📨 Fixed 'slow/stuck' Group Chat messages: a race condition, plus many inefficiencies, were resolved in Group Chat messaging, making it feel significantly smoother and snappier.
📪 Fixed automatic 'Mark as Read': on Windows particularly, 'auto-Mark-as-Read' now works consistently.
🐧 Fixed potential Linux Media crashes: on Linux, playable media is now displayed as regular File Attachments, preventing a crash when Videos or Audio cannot be loaded.
🐱 Fixed 'jitter' on first Emoji Panel open: the Emoji Panel rendering has been optimised, removing 'jitter' when first opened.
📺 Fixed intense "UI Flickering" in the Chatlist during sync: no more login seizures.
👍 Fixed Reactions in Group Chats: for spamming 🍆 on every post until you're inevitably banned.
👥 Fixed newly-joined Group Chat bugs: they no longer drop to the bottom of your chatlist on join, and the "Header" is now clickable even if no messages were sent in the group yet.
🎆 Fixed 'PNG-Pill' on tiny images: Emoji-sized images now hide the File Extension Tag, a.k.a, the "PNG Pill".
🟢 Removed 'Status Dot' from Group Chats: this is meant for people, not rooms.
🖥️ Fixed excessive Group Chat re-renders: shaves some CPU usage from Group Chat UI.
🖥️ Fixed excessive Typing Indicator events: shaves some CPU usage from Typing Indicators.
🖥️ Fixed excessive Chat Timestamp re-renders: shaves some CPU usage from 'last message' timestamp updates.
🖱️ Fixed "Double Scrollbar" at startup: rarely, a "double" scrollbar displayed while Vector was booting.

Incredible job everyone, thank you to all of the contributors on this last release. Such a milestone for Vector and really happy for all of the Android users to be able to have Vector anywhere they go now. Anyone that hasn't been added to the official Vector Community, be sure to ping me or nostr:nprofile1qqsdzvlvkzvk8flh5uzm7fgryj3zdl9vhag7hfhskxuhm7xqjvu2fjqz2tsc6 to do so. Grateful for all feedback and suggestions. Cheers!
Also, love the Greek and Stoic references and inspiration. Beautiful.

Congrats, nprofile1qqspwwwexlwgcrrnwz4zwkze8rq3ncjug8mvgsd96dxx6wzs8ccndmc2ymgxf! Look forward to finally getting to test White Noise, happy to see what you all have been cooking up and happy to share as much honest feedback as you all would like in the appropriate channels.
I always recommend to software devs, if you do this and feel confidently about the new idea/implementations... ALWAYS have a legacy mode for your users.
Feels good to actually test a design workflow on
nostr:nprofile1qqst37fwv8n363vx4eh7d9c0w0wslkufqyy43830g9a773zmhw5jergut5jp4 to work on other open-source privacy protocols. Helping work on a dashboard and improve the contrast legibility with Liquid369. All done with a Nostr key.
We still have quite a long list of features and UX improvements to add, but making great progress. Nothing better than testing in production and seeing real-time updates firsthand.
Next 3 projects to add me on Vector, I'll be offering free UX/UI advice and assistance on behalf of Formless Labs. Preferably an open-source, privacy, and/or freedom tech project.

Just gonna share some experimentation with different art and design styles. Never stop failing, never stop learning. Where are the #nostr artists and designers?

study the art of addition by subtraction.
Privacy by Principle.
a) Fundamental Truth or Law: A basic truth, rule, or assumption that serves as the foundation for a system of belief, behavior, or reasoning.
b) Moral or Ethical Standard: A personal or societal code of conduct or moral belief that guides behavior.
c) General Rule or Guideline: A standard or rule that dictates how something operates or is structured.
d) All of the Above
Daily Reflection
Privacy itself is like an isolation chamber, a tool for accessing deeper levels of consciousness and awareness. Unfettered, unbothered, and undistracted. This environment allows us the freedom to feel and express deeply, parts of ourselves we were once unaware of... how we feel, why we feel that way, expanding our perspective that exists both consciously and subconsciously. Alternatively, integrating multiple moving parts and other variables into this equation (people, ideas, perspectives) only expands this view and perspective even wider.
"I met a man with a dollar; we exchange dollars, and we each have one dollar. I met a man with an idea; we exchange ideas, and we each have two ideas".
Privacy influences our ability to clearly communicate, somewhat of a deep flow state, dictating the authenticity and intention of what is expressed. Not all conversations should or have to be made in public domain. That is the beauty of free will, we have the sovereignty and freedom to choose what we want to express with whom, where, and the medium.
We have all felt the impact of not having the privacy to express ourselves freely. How did it feel? Limiting. Disingenuous. Half-assed. Violating. We have all done this to a degree, changing what words we use or added "filters" around a certain group that could be co-workers, family, or even certain friends. The reason why privacy is a controversial and pertinent topic is because we live in a world where forces will continue to take where you are willing to give—our privacy has been absolutely invaded and conquered because of modern technology. It is not the technology at fault alone, but the developers of that technology that are violating the privacy of their users. In a just world, their responsibility is meant to protect their users and their privacy. Unfortunately, we live in a world of injustice and their motives are to gather as much information, data, behavior patterns, etc. to try to understand you better than yourself and find manipulative, exploitative ways to extract as much value from you as possible...
exploiting your privacy versus protecting it.
I've always ascribed to the idea of "give a man a mask and he will show his true face", meaning if there are no outside factors that could cause harm or risks involved they will share with you precisely how they feel and most importantly their character, who they are. That is why great writers and poets have always been revered and cherished—sharing with us, at their own free will, the full depth and range of their own personal and private thoughts and feelings. That is fearlessness, but like a blossoming lotus you cannot rip the petals off and expect it to blossom sooner. Under the right conditions and with patience, nature happens precisely when it means to. Humans are not separate from nature.
Privacy is Freedom.
and it must be protected at all costs.

I've got this piece that was in the pipeline a few years back for a fashion project that went under. I used my open-source font (available to everyone free) on my GitHub called "SAIBA-45" and trying to start an Open-Source series.
"open source philosophy embodies what it means to express the deepest levels of gratitude and devotion, to give back what we have been given..."

gm, nostr.
very cool, wanna tune into this if i'm around at that time. is it recorded for afterwards or only live?
The left one has a nice, smoother look on the eyes, but then negative spacing in the one on the right is going to be better for all types of application. When picking designs that will be used across multiple types of platforms and mediums, you always want clean linework and strong contrasts for the full effect of the design to pop and be legible, whether small or far away.
TLDR: Right.
bitchat purple release now live on appstore: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bitchat-mesh/id6748219622
what is bitchat purple vs bitchat*?
Btw, I got to test it on a flight and shared some additional feedback if it could be of any benefit to you and your team of developers:
https://primal.net/e/nevent1qqsglukv9r046daxl8y6hd5snc9hm3yrwgnkamzm870xmqanfmdwzeg33ev9q
Cheers, Thomas! I love testing new apps and also have been working on them for years, so I like to provide the type of feedback I'd be looking for from people who use the apps I create as well. Coming from a background in FOSS, it's all about finding ways to contribute, no matter the size of the contribution.
Have you tested out bitchat* yet?
bitchat 1.2.0 (purple) shipping to testflight tonight.
this enables mutual favorites to automatically switch to a nostr-based transport when one of them leaves the mesh. only for private messages for now using NIP-17.
basically people can bitchat in person, favorite each other at that time, and then can continue the conversation if internet is available through nostr, from any distance. no need to input a npub or know anything about nostr. it just works.

(bluetooth, proximity-based privacy messenger app)
The courier, Terminal UI look largely looking like it drew inspiration from "The Matrix", a message or series of messages, warnings, and guidance that still ring true today. We have somewhat of a similar influence building nostr:nprofile1qy8hwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnvdakqzrmhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekk7mgqyzu0jtnpuuw5tp4wdlnfwrmnm58ahzgpp9vfut6p00h5gkam4ykg6gdc3zu, our open-source, privacy messenger-based app on #Nostr.
I love the inspiration behind the minimal GUI and even the intro/about us with terms like "ephemeral identity". I often think in my head of "ephemeral existence" because that is what life is and all we do as people is mimic and copy life, hence the term biomimicry. Love the artistry and creativity behind something that feels so simple, but once you start creating applications you realize how much thought goes into every single and seemingly trivial detail. Great designers know this.
Everything is incredibly straightforward and intuitive for the UX, largely to removing unnecessary features and details (I'm assuming their team had to go through a long process of what to remove vs what to add :kek: ). Everything worked like a charm, other than a connectivity issue I had with one device. One device connected perfectly to the other device, but the other device couldn't detect the other. These were tested on cross-OS, iOS and Android. I think that there were permission issues for bluetooth, location services, etc. that may have caused the issue, though I tried troubleshooting and enabling features to no success.
We live in a time where our freedom and privacy are tested daily. There are forces that wish to control, oppress, and exploit--whether that sounds extreme to you or not. We compromise ourselves daily online, largely to mere convenience and a lack of knowledge. I love to see experiments like this come to life and this is what we should be contributing to as a collective, projects and protocols that protect our privacy and allow for true digital freedom and self-sovereignty.

Finally got it up and working, thanks for your suggestion. Some of the Nostr apps are unfortunately absolutely broken and have a mind of their own at times haha.
these are killin' me, plz keep them comin'
Nostr-based Social Media is the closest thing we have to bitcointalk.org vibes coming back in 2025.
This one sent me lol - sending this to a mate.

Purpose in Service 🙏 First days on Nostr-related social media/Primal and already enjoying the whole content and message much more than Twitter.
Did you permanently delete your account, Dr. Jeff?
Curious to why you feel it's better to completely remove/delete it instead of also utilizing it... it being its incredibly broken and over-monetized bs alg poor excuse at <1% of your follower's "reach".
GM ☕ You can call me Bee.
New to #Nostr and was recommended to start an #introduction here to share a bit about myself and hopefully connect with some other like-minded individuals, especially those building some cool projects on Nostr.
I am mostly known as a designer and artist that has been in the world of blockchain since 2017 and taken a strong liking towards open-source communities and projects that have a solid moral foundation and clear vision of what they seek to accomplish. So, over the years I have found many projects that I could offer my design skills to that I felt were achieving something beneficial to people, the world, or simply just really interesting and unique cases of innovation. Sometimes we just need a creative outlet to experiment and express ourselves.
Some of the past projects I've co-founded and contributed to have been #ZENZO, #PIVX, HIVE, MetaBrands, NeonDistrict, DEXT, StakeCube, and many others that are either on the shelf or couldn't stand the test of time.
A lot of my interests are aligned with the Ethos of blockchain itself. To quote the great Hal Finney: "The computer can be used as a tool to liberate and protect people, rather than to control them." - This goes for blockchain, crypto, and even technology as a whole. If we don't progress and evolve as humans, technology itself will only be used for the same close-minded and selfish purposes, no matter how much technology improves and becomes stronger, faster, and more efficient. Efficient at what? That is what we must question, the why.
I don't often share and display my past works, but I have some of it posted on Behance where you can get a quick look and feel for my skills:
https://www.behance.net/formlesslabs
In 2024, Formless Labs also released our first free, open-source font called "SAIBA-45", which is a cyberpunk, neo-tokyo inspired font type. Check it out!
https://github.com/YuurinBee/SAIBA-45
PS: Thanks to nostr:npub16ye7evyevwnl0fc9hujsxf9zym72e063awn0pvde0huvpyec5nyq4dg4wn for discovering Nostr and using it as the base protocol to help us build out an app that we've always wanted to use ourselves, but found none of them were sufficient. They always said they were private and encrypted, but didn't have the tech to support those claims (more info about that soon).
