A shantyman for BTC. Occasional purveyor of cypher-funk. I save Satoshis, because Satoshi saves

I missed this place. Nice to be back.

I just explained nostr to a bitcoiner as "a bit like wallet software and the blockchain"

Your profile and posts are like data on the blockchain.

Nostr apps like nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg or nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 are akin to wallet software like Sparrow that serve up publicly accessible data.

Unlike Twitter or Facebook or IG, they don't own your account or data. They just create an interface that serves as lens through which to view YOUR data which YOU own (and the data of others, which THEY own).

They also package up data (i.e. new posts) into the nostr protocol and then "publish it to the blockchain" if you will.

Of course this data isn't hashed or linked the way blockchain data is.

nostr:npub12ezcwnc736grnfgxsxy4ea9tj5n60xl5pp59c7d82gfec80qmfrqayafkm do we have a Sea Shanty featuring Moscow Time front and center?

Seems like a worthy endeavor.

Can’t believe I didn’t reply to this. Check my wavlake. It’s literally called Moscow Time.

What's the best way to stream on nostr?

Want to do something for the halving. Stream originating from OBS --> into restream.io --> how to get that into nostr?

Appreciate the feedback.

Anytime I see "solutions" in a title I'm skeptical. It's a long-time strategy for covering up the negative connotation of sales, when signaling to clients or buyers.

Seeing it creep into the IT world is disappointing.

Not sure how you feel, but I think the Level 4 aspect of your previous role is pretty important and useful as well. It's crystal clear that you have a higher skillset than a Level 3, 2, etc. and that does affect the way people engage (if they don't know you already).

Reducing the numbers to vague "senior, junior, executive" etc just makes everything more vague and everyone else unsure of whom they're really dealing with.

100%

Wish more bitcoiners would dig deeper into the concept of Use Cases and Job-To-Be-Done.

It's a big world out there and many people are in many different situations with different constraints that need different approaches.

I think the underlying fear many are reacting to is that the ETF will subvert the use case for holding your own keys and put the fundamental decentralization and censorship-resistance of bitcoin at risk.

This is a good thing to always be concerned about, and we should remain vigilant. But the ETF will grow an entirely new crop of BTC maximalists, who will help maintain that vigilance.

And exposure to BTC, while surely getting some rekt, will save many many more from financial destitution with money that cannot otherwise be used to hold their own keys.

Blech! 🤢

Curious what specifically you find frustrating about this title?

I only ask because I work in the talent development sphere and titles are always a tricky tangle of specificity, hierarchy, compensation, and signaling.

I have some assumptions of my own as to why this is a fiat BS title, but I don't want to taint the waters before hearing your thoughts.

Took a long hiatus from nostr. Good to be back.

What did I miss?

Are we EVER going to get a Bitcoin ETF????

sheesh

We shall call it "the red light district"

🚨🎶 NEW SHANTY ALERT 🎶🚨

New bull run soundtrack has landed.

And the nostriches get to hear it first.

I'm going to be at Pacific Bitcoin and want to meet moar bitcoiners. Hit me up if you'll be there too. Perhaps there are shanties in our shared future.

My notifications are other people liking and commenting on this post, which means I now have to scroll through it MULTIPLE times.

Congratulations, Minstrel: you played yourself.
