If I am to guess it is because he is the first presidential candidate or president for that matter to participate in crypto purchase (if it is his acct at all). As famous as he is, it is putting #btc into the lime light. It is only wild guess though. 👌

But with that freedom comes the reality that some folks will try to take advantage of it—hello, spammers!

I genuinely appreciate the hard work that goes into running both free and paid relays. They’re essential for keeping our community alive and thriving. However, it’s a bit disheartening to see how much power relay owners hold. Yes, they can ban spammers, which is great, but it’s also a slippery slope. Innocent users can get caught in the crossfire, and that just doesn’t sit right with me. 😔

I get it; the structure of Nostr is designed to be censorship-resistant, and that’s super important. But sometimes, it feels like some people are so wrapped up in their own solutions that they forget there are other perspectives out there. Like, one relay might think they have the answer, but if their approach ends up hurting innocent users, then we really need to rethink things. 🤔

So, let’s strive for a balance here. ⚖️

We need to find a way to tackle spam without compromising the experience for those who are just here to share and connect. It’s all about collaboration and understanding that no one solution is the end-all-be-all. We’re in this together, and I believe we can create a space that respects everyone’s voice while keeping the spammers at bay.

I was surprised when I saw his speech considering he used the same "sketch" his entire career. Don't get me wrong, his satire work is funny to some degree until he went overboard.

Spot on 💯. Taking away your "free will" does not sit well for me. Yes, there are people who are negative but there is the "mute" option. As for PD or violence, I do not agree with it. If they intend to do crimes, they will always find a way regardless of the tool. Unless they are "properly stopped". But I do not believe the tool (online, tech, internet, etc) itself is the problem. ☺️

My take away from his speech are:

a.) Dangerous to have a handful of corporations use as a propaganda machine like ads regardless whether it is true or lie.

b.) Social media ads must be fact checked before running it.

c.) Hate speech, bigots, PD, must not be given platform as part of their freedom of reach.

I was reading the same thing. I am perplexed too. Am I misreading it? Never see X as freedom tech if it has community guidelines and it has the power to ban people. Especially it's business model is ads which Jack admitted (the businessmodel). My other guess is he still have 3% stocks on X (based on his conference). But I maybe wrong.
