I need to set up something Start9 or Umbrel. It’s not available on myNode yet.
You can run it on any other PC (Linux or Windows), no need for a powerful node.
You can even run it with the self-executable file.
The best and simple way is with Phoenixd.
The 2nd best option is with LDK.
The 3rd best and powerful option is with LND in neutrino mode (no need for a full BTC node, or you can even link it with existing other full BTC nodes in the LAN.
Will self-host it once my new homelab is setup.
Waiting for start9 service.
My initial obstacle was that I thought that for the 1M or 2M channel opening sats I had to put them in.
Ignorance on my part.
Just jumped 🤙
Waiting for my nostr:nprofile1qqsw5t3us9xs3gmclzjm37hvk2yy6pv9t96utjjttsj794hexc5x79qpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wdmksetjv5hxxmmd9umlca68 full node to finish the initial blockchain sync 😅
Took mine about 10 days to sync while it took my start 9 (set the start9 up a full day after my umbrel) about 36 hours to sync. The umbrel keeps losing connectivity while my start9 has been rock solid thus far. I’m probably going to load startOS onto the umbrel.
Is there work ongoing for CLN as a backend to Alby Hub?
Not at the moment, but it's possible some open source developer is working of it and we're not aware!
What's the benefit or necessity of updating? Is there a change to a send fee?
I don't know what it is (yet?)
Invite only. No seats left in the onboarding sessions.
I have stupid questions about how it works, and I am too embarrased to ask here 😅
because it piss me off with some kinda of invitation code... UNSUBSCRIBED...
I tried today but I needed an invite code. Are you trolling us?? 🤨🤨
I'm waiting for nostr:nprofile1qqsrxra3gv0lnkxz2pcxh0xuq9k4f9dr7azwq3aypqtnay4w0mjzmtqpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqpzamhxue69uhkzarvv9ejumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucunm6wg to debug the code so I can connect my nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0spzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcprdmhxue69uhkummnw3ez6vfwde3x7tnpdenkzmnf9e3k75xqss4 account to an NWC compatible wallet like nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0fjzwm2
I've debugged this and there seems to be an issue with the nostr:npub1kvaln6tm0re4d99q9e4ma788wpvnw0jzkz595cljtfgwhldd75xsj9tkzv NWC URL.
Minibits adds multiple relays (e.g. relay=wss://relay.minibits.cash&relay=wss://relay.primal.net&relay=wss://relay.damus.io&relay=wss://nostr.mom ) This is not as the spec describes it and I think also different client implementation interpret this differently.
Our implementation here uses the last relay and this one seems to not respond to a NWC request.
nostr:npub1kvaln6tm0re4d99q9e4ma788wpvnw0jzkz595cljtfgwhldd75xsj9tkzv I recommend to only use one relay now.
(We as Alby also operate a NWC optimized relay that we offer.)
Okay, let me try with nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0fjzwm2 NWC
nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch does not support all NWC functions, yet. So far only sending and loading the balance I think.
It didn't connect to nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0fjzwm2 either
nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch do you plan to implement the other NWC functions, too?
Sure we can. Can you suggest some apps/clients that make use of some of the other methods so we can test? Currently we have pay_invoice get_info and get_balance
Oh I guess you're referring to the Alby NWC app? Does it need us to support all the methods in the NIP or is there some subset it's looking for?

whatever you are comfortable with using.
here the goal was to use the coinos wallet with the alby account.
you can also check the alby extension that would work the, too
cannot add any technical details here, but wanted to say that I have hooked coinos wallet to my Alby browser extension for zapping. Its working but has some minor issues with how it integrates with the Alby extension. (so I guess, if you can make it 'fully compatible' that would be great. 🙏)
Spec says that relay param may be more than one. You're right that multiple relay params in query string looks weird but that was what I've seen in some other implementation.
If it is indeed wrong encoding, I'd be happy to fix it but would prefer not to rely on a single relay.
True. hmm, that spec needs to be updated there. because if more than one is provided then it should be an array imo relay[]=xxx&relay[]=yyy
otherwise different parsers interpret it differently.
At the same time multiple relays add some complexity for apps and wallets. so far all NWCs used one relay afaik.
I personally doubt that relays for NWC are the weak link in the chain and need redundancy that the event is published to multiple ones.
Also considering privacy and that those are no "normal" events.
Do you know why nostr.mom seems to not work for NWC events?
Agree, relay[] is supported encoding in query strings, but I'm afraid it might not be what nwc clients expect.
Will consider to point it to my strfry instance relay.minibits.cash
Missing support for CLN as backend…
Hey. I'm an Alby browser extension user. First things that come to mind:
- I had a hard time signing up to get the browser extension installed - needed an invite code, had to wait, etc. that rubbed me the wrong way at the outset
- I have this vague notion in my head that there is something "a little too custodial" about Hub. I realize this isn't necessarily founded nor rational
- I sort of still don't know what it is and I feel (mostly) satisfied with my Bitcoin setup at the moment and not incentivized to look into it
- something about Alby - as a company - feels kind of faceless and ... "suspicious"? I don't know. Maybe because I don't see it's founders talking on Nostr like I do with many other products.
I hope this helps! Not trying to be mean; ruthless honesty because you're conducting user research 👍
I have been trying for weeks to get an invite code so there is that
Send me a DM with your email address :-)
Don't feel so stupid now that I see others saying they don't know what it is.
Have always felt that way about most things Alby.
cause i still have custodial alby accounts 😂
Waiting for my invitation code🙄
I don't need to be self-sovereign for the amount of money I'm keeping on Alby currently.
Alby browser extension is a beautiful little tool for me to spend small amounts of sats across the internet, but I don't need to hold a large balance on it and prefer to keep my bigger stack on cold storage.
I need an invite for the wallet, that would be super nice!
The only thing I use Alby for is Nostr zaps... does not make sense to run my own node to support zaps for a nym. (I do have a node and self-custody my IRL stack) but for just zapping, I love the 'old-Alby' ...
Running #NWC on @albyhub, I need some referal codes to hand out to the folks.
How about an invite code! :D
One thing I didn’t like is the api/auth key which is linked back to Alby central
Waitlisted. How about DM us an invite code?
Need to look into it more. I’m content with my current alby browser extension, and im not technically inclined enough to make me want to do it just yet
Why is It necessary to put an email address? #privacy
I move slow
I am still on your waiting list and disappointing 😞
Just got it. I'm now looking forward to the Hub being available on my Start9...what's the wait nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll?
First time I heard of it.
