In Texas, if it backed onto an empty quarter you could have a combo restaurant and shooting range with a bunch of steel targets out back. Silhouettes of guys carrying TV’s, cases of liquor and boxes of Nikes. Of course you’d have to paint them white.

Welcome!

Honestly I believe you either get it or you don’t. I recognized the asymmetrical upside of this asset the second I saw it. Opened 3 exchange accounts. Ordered signing devices and plates, and did a swan dive down the rabbit hole. It’s the first time in 30+ years of working relatively decent paying jobs and building other people’s fortunes that I have ever been incentivized to save. What’s the yield on a 0.1% savings account when real annual inflation is at 12-16%? The Fed can take their fake-ass CPI and employment numbers and jam them sideways.

Help fund Boeing, Raytheon, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin? That’s where your aid is going.

Or you could just suck it up. And skip the list.

Create a wallet and /or address for emergency use

Resilience is about being able to safely traverse difficulties, danger or threats without significant loss.

Bitcoiners have been thinking about ways to make themselves, their families, and their lives more resilient in all sorts of aspects. One of those is typically the security of their bitcoin in their own custody.

Ignoring HOW you choose to custody your bitcoin, it is a common 'escape hatch' that if happens, then I'll move my coins to a new wallet.

Typical example is if one of a set of keys in a multi-sig is lost/stolen/compromised. Another could be the tamper-proof bag holding a seed plate or passphrase being violated - or potentially violated.

So again, IGNORING HOW you choose to custody your bitcoin, you now have a need to move them.

Two things will now simultaneously be in play:

You will have a sense of urgency

You will be in a heightened state of stress

These two things do NOT help thinking coolly and calmly about best practice for creating a new wallet and from that, a new address.

You may also not be in a place, time or environment to do so.

This is the time when you want to grab that pre-prepared wallet/address/xpub from a safe place and *know*: I got this covered.

So pick a quiet time, and go through your routine for creating a new wallet; protect those seed words and the passphrase, and then:

*keep the xpub or the address in an easily accessible place*

Well done - you've increased your resiliency, and hopefully, just like house insurance, you never have to use it! 🤝

This practice literally saved my ass a month ago. Had to RBF my entire stack somewhere quickly to beat an unauthorized TX to the next block.

I guess it’s mainly because most people in the west including myself haven’t yet experienced (involuntarily at least) what three days without food feels like.

How is it that we haven’t seen insurrection in the West over inflation and direct taxation that’s stealing 50+% of people’s time and energy, when colonists flipped their shit in 1773 over 2%? On a single import product?

How do you train non technical and in some cases completely uninterested executors or heirs to understand Bitcoin at a level of complexity that they won’t fuck it up or get rugged by an unscrupulous actor after you die? Even with widely adopted airtight multisig setups (which is a whole learning/implementation curve and time investment in and of itself), aren’t there going to be potentially millions of coins that get lost forever, four to five decades from now? I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’d be interested to get some takes on it. Imagine people finding imprinted steel plates 100 years from now at garage sales.

Anything I can learn from. Chasing dopamine hits is so 2012 and causes brain damage. It has ruined a whole generation of kids. No more delayed gratification. No more leaning into doing really hard things.

Straight carnivore for three and a half weeks and down 20lb. I have more energy than I had ten years ago. And the stray cat population in the neighbourhood has mysteriously dropped.

You’ll likely have to do a CPFP transaction. Here is a resource:

https://docs.lightning.engineering/lightning-network-tools/lnd/unconfirmed-bitcoin-transactions

I recently had to do this on Ride the Lightning to bump a channel opening fee that I inadvertently made too low just because I didn’t understand the Thunderhub UI yet. It worked. Just make sure your fee for the new TX is set at roughly double the high priority fee and the miner will be incentivized to clear both. If you don’t go high enough this time around, it could get expensive.

A self sufficient off grid capable homestead that would serve as the source of my family’s basic needs and a place to educate others on permaculture, food, energy and monetary independence.

2% minus 12-16% real inflation. It’s serious alright
