I was invited to speak at the Baltic Honeybadger conference in Latvia September 2 - 3, 2023. Plane tickets alone are about 1600 USD. I do not have those kinds of funds in my budget to go as I've already allocated funds for other events later this year. However, I feel that it would be an amazing opportunity for me to attend and speak about Nostr, speak about all of the great things that we've built, and accomplished together. You all know how bullish and passionate I am about Nostr. Anyways, I wanted to try something different and see if it's successful. I would like to crowdfund my travel expenses with Zaps. If the community wants me to attend and talk about Nostr, then Zaps will lead the way. I love you all and thank you for your support.

Japan is the 3rd biggest economy in the world with a population of 120 million and many people tend to value privacy and pseudonyminity . Also there is a vibrant group of lighthing enthusiasts Dimond Hands which could be helping spread the world. So I don't think it's too surprising to see Japanese on here.

I worry bitcoiners aren’t doing enough to boot strap a circular economy. unless people can buy goods and services in bitcoin the movement will fail. I welcome the likes of silvergate and coinbase going down as I think long term it will be good for bitcoin. I am happy to see the dollar price flat to down during the transition. the point of bitcoin should be self sovereignty and a seizure and censor resistant SoV /P2P spending tool which can travel at the speed of light and anyone can participate in without permission by running a full node and mining. The vs USD NGU narrative is not useful and is heading potentially for a giant rug pull as US administration blocks liquidity. I also think “the institutions” came too early and would rather they lost interest in bitcoin. This needs to be a grass roots movement by the plebs for the plebs as we build an alternative system—brick by brick—which likely won’t really improve life for us materially (other than the joy of being engaged in meaningful work) but will potentially make life much better for our children and grandchildren.

100% agree. He's an opportunistic predatory clown🤡 who's only interested in pump and dump fiat maxi scams. He's taking advantage of this movement created by the hard work of underpaid and underappreciated devs. His antics bring all the wrong kind of attention and people with all the wrong kind of incentives and motivations into bitcoin.
This. He who has a why can endure any how. It's not hard but it is unfamiliar. People need motivation to get out of that comfort zone and fear and greed are the best motivators. Just read When Money Dies based on your recommendation and if that doesn't shock a few into buying a raspberry pi and opting out not sure what will.
