Charging $1 a year to Tweet and Retweet may not seem like a lot, however optics matter. It sets the stage to charge more in the future, it makes the service no longer free, and most importantly, it makes Twitter no longer the public square where anyone is able to freely talk - a point in which Elon likes to state, but continues to erode.
While on the NOSTR we happily Zap developers more than $1 worth of sats quite often and some could agree that it's a similar task to paying a measily 4000 sats, it's not. It's not a requirement. It's not forced. The NOSTR is completely free and open. The openness is the difference. The NOSTR is the public square.

Relay operators are going to have to start charging eventually (or something has to change). There's no other way to monetize this platform. @Jack can't subsidize development etc forever (unless he wants to).
For anyone reading this: I promise to never show you my feet if you follow me.
I don't know man. I started following everyone that wasn't a bot a few months ago. Leave some recommendations here.
Thanks to some analysis from our intern nostr:npub17plqkxhsv66g8quxxc9p5t9mxazzn20m426exqnl8lxnh5a4cdns7jezx0 , according to opt-in AppStore analytics one of the biggest issues with Damus is user retention. 99% of people stop using damus after 6 months.
In the next version we will be looking at ways to get mores users to that โah haโ moment that gets them to stick around like all of us addicts.
Ideas welcome! Notifications is obviously a big one, but maybe we could make it easier to get people their first sats.
My biggest issue with this platform is the echo chamber. I want a social experience and news. Not just constant messages about how Bitcoin will save us from Skynet (and I like Bitcoin).
I stopped using them for the most part just because I don't want people knowing who I'm talking to AND the fact that one day my key will probably be compromised via an app or website and anyone can read them.
There is an inspection if you drive into California. Allegedly for agricultural reasons.

How do you get the custom address? I'm on the latest alpha and don't see it.
Self-custodial #Lightning addresses just dropped for nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5!?
How? I'm on the latest alpha and don't see it.
You know, everyone talks about how BAD things are now...but, they use phrases like "30 year low" when describing how bad they are. If you think about it, that implies that it was just as bad or worse before. ๐ค๐
Hotels in Vegas can be had for $20 a night (at the famous places) and I can drive there in a few hours. Disney on the other hand is ridiculous and all the adults look depressed ๐
I was and really loved it... But jumped over to Brave and haven't looked back. Haven't even opened it out of curiosity.
Most have addictions or mental health issues. SF has been throwing money at the problem for years and it just gets worse.
It's crazy that I live in San Francisco and I've only seen ONE restaurant take Bitcoin. And even then, it was a huge pain (getting the manager to pay on his phone).
