Are you guys buying Apple’s latest product?

It seems great to be open to forks and suggest that as a way to deal with all the requested toggles and such but really, what are the chances to beat the network effect of an already established client like Amethyst? Even when Nostr itself kind of fixes the walled gardens problem, the network effect is still very much in play here.

This idea is likely infeasible if using windows, would probably need an OS built for it. I heard that Fedi bitcoin-supported OS is underway, maybe that could be interoperable here.

The idea would be to download new merkle branches when the tree updates, after switching devices (laptop to desktop, for example). If you change any files on one device, you could compute the new tree and upload the new branches to the relay without reuploading the whole OS. The slowest part may be creating a merkle tree of hundreds of gigabytes.

Our Scionic merkle trees are labeled so users will know how many new branches there are if they have the new root. Easy enough to send the new merkle root directly to the new device too, so the new device knows which root to ask the relays for.

But you must know this so maybe I'm missing something here?

#Nostr doesn’t need 100s of social clients. It need a few really good ones on each OS. Nostr should and will have 100s of micro apps and tools that integrate into every nook and cranny of our online experiences. But the social clients need to be good and usable for social stuff, and they need to leave users in control of their experience and what they see.

If they omit your vote, the citizen could see it wasn’t broadcasted by the hub with the ZKP. If the city hub omits the votes of too many citizens from X party or Y party, then city might riot — there would be local revolt. This may limit the scope of abuse.

Things to consider in the future…

There's no reason to follow tons of strangers. Use lists for that.

Because we have a very huge problem and it's not a bug. Let me elaborate:

Regardless of where you choose to report, your 'report' will censor that person not just for you but "all of your followers" who use Amethyst. It only takes five reports from 'following user' to censor the individual "for you" without your intent and knowledge. No matter which client the censored user is using, they will be censored for Amethyst users after reports.

Amethyst users don't even have an option to turn off this setting. This is really messed up. Any five users I am following can censor any person for me, and I can't do anything about it. This is ridiculous.

By the way, don't make any mistake here, it's not a bug, it's by design. I raised this issue with Vitor many times. I respect his work, but there has been no meaningful response regarding this. In fact, he wants you to learn coding and do it by yourself.

I don't intend to call out any person; I just want to spread awareness. Maybe you like this feature idk but you deserve to know what's exactly happening and make informed decisions.
