Seems to work fine. Does this use multicast over a VPN? Or just a bunch of TCP connections to a well connected server?

I use Matrix (self hosted) instead of Signal. The Matrix protocol exceeds M$ Teams in functionality.

Plus size lingerie is all very fine, but they've stopped making shoes and socks that fit me since about 2012. I have large feet, 12.5 length, 13.5 width and higher than average vertically (not reflected in sizes - have to see if I can get my feet in). I know there are athletes with big feet - but their stuff is hundreds of $$. I am poor (for NoVa), and Walmart can no longer supply my need.

We get organic pasture raised eggs from the store, and they look like the back. But they cost $9/doz. Worth every penny. The cheap eggs don't even taste right.

Yes, ICANN hostnames can be canceled and the TLS cabal can refuse to sign (and even revoke, although not all browsers look for revocations).

Geek solution: Use decentralized raw IPv6 on a mesh vpn like Cjdns, yggdrasil, pinecone

Normie solution: Create alt TLDs on Namecoin, (normies point their DNS to an alt root). Maybe some genius will figure out a workable way to register hostnames under a NOSTR tld using Nostr. E.g. you simply post a DNS event on SSB for the SSB tld. However, that scheme is not globally consistent. (Which is consistent with the SSB mindset - who cares about global consistency?)

I'm suspicious of the "intelligence failure" that allowed Oct 7 (a la 9/11). However, Hamas has been using "human shields" since the US funded and armed them to oppose Arafat. Hamas shoots any human shields that try to leave.

Israel's choices:

1) attack Hamas - World: "Aaahh! You are killing innocent people and children!"

2) wait for another Hamas attack - Israeli's "Aaahh! You are supposed to protect us!"

3) contain Hamas - World: "Aaahh! You are isolating innocent people and children!"

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner.

I'm showing up on stats now. My old equip is getting a PoW in every 2 days! It'll be a while ... I should probably go back to a casino model (first user to send the hash gets the entire reward, less the house cut).

Putting unrelated stuff on blockchain only bloats the chain until only governments/google can afford to run a full node - so long decentralization.

Putting the actual media data on the blockchain would be stupid and crazy expensive. Media posting schemes involve putting a hash of the media on the blockchain, and the actual media is stored in a content (hash) addressable system like ipfs (or a paid CDN).

Sometimes, what seems like anti-intellectualism is an instinctive loathing for scientific modernism by the uneducated. "Educated" people have brought them things like the Tuscegee Experiment.

Educated intellectuals like G. K. Chesterton, poets like Tolkein, academics like C. S. Lewis, clerics like Peter Kreeft have analyzed and described it much more eloquently, but with no less loathing.

The analytic Lewis work is "The Abolition of Man", his fictional depiction is "That Hideous Strength" - a dystopian novel as prescient as 1984 and Brave New World. (Lewis is one of the earliest to foresee hypertext.)

Here is a paragraph from "Eugenics and Other Evils" by Chesterton,

Most Eugenists are Euphemists. I mean merely that short words startle

them, while long words soothe them. And they are utterly incapable of

translating the one into the other, however obviously they mean the same

thing. Say to them "The persuasive and even

coercive powers of the citizen should enable him to make sure that the

burden of longevity in the previous generation does not become

disproportionate and intolerable, especially to the females"; say this

to them and they will sway slightly to and fro like babies sent to sleep

in cradles. Say to them "Murder your mother," and they sit up quite

suddenly. Yet the two sentences, in cold logic, are exactly the same.

Say to them "It is not improbable that a period may arrive when the

narrow if once useful distinction between the anthropoid homo

and the other animals, which has been modified on so many moral points,

may be modified also even in regard to the important question of the

extension of human diet"; say this to them, and beauty born of murmuring

sound will pass into their face. But say to them, in a simple, manly,

hearty way "Let's eat a man!" and their surprise is quite surprising.

Yet the sentences say just the same thing.

And another:

Now here we find ourselves confronted with an amazing fact. When, in the

past, opinions so arguable have been enforced by State violence, it has

been at

the instigation of fanatics who held them for fixed and flaming

certainties. If truths could not be evaded by their enemies, neither

could they be altered even by their friends. But what are the certain

truths that the secular arm must now lift the sword to enforce? Why,

they are that very mass of bottomless questions and bewildered answers

that we have been studying in the last chapters—questions whose only

interest is that they are trackless and mysterious; answers whose only

glory is that they are tentative and new. The devotee boasted that he

would never abandon the faith; and therefore he persecuted for the

faith. But the doctor of science actually boasts that he will always

abandon a hypothesis; and yet he persecutes for the hypothesis. The

Inquisitor violently enforced his creed, because it was unchangeable.

The savant enforces it violently because he may change it the next day.

Browsers let you add your own CAs, no problem. What they DON'T do is provide a way to NOT trust a CA for all domains.

For months, Greg had been requesting one of those new LCD monitors. The price was a quarter of what it had been. Thanks to Bill Gates wallpapering his mansion with LCD, the manufacturers had fully recouped their development costs. Besides the slightly curved screen and the resulting confusing glare, the most annoying "feature" of the CRT was the spray of escaped electrons (and a few X-rays, not enough to worry about) giving him a negative charge, the resulting staticky feeling, and his face acting as an electrostatic dust filter in conjunction with the monitor.

As he raced to finish a spreadsheet before the deadline, the dust was accumulating, and between that and the curved glare, and needing new glasses, and itchy dust irritated eyes, he could no longer make out the figures. Suddenly, nothing in his world was more important than destroying that CRT.

For anyone who is not aware, nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm has updated the limits on custodial balances to encourage users to move sats to self custody.

I just got this email from nostr:npub1kmwdmhuxvafg05dyap3qmy42jpwztrv9p0uvey3a8803ahlwtmnsnhxqk9 that spells it out.

Maximum amount to receive per transaction: 500K sats

Maximum balance: 1 million sats

Total transaction limit per week: 5 million sats

If you’re still figuring out your self custody options, there are people here who can help!

I still haven't found info on self custody of lightning. I have a BTC wallet and full node.

Meetup shows the venue as the median on rt 7. Tysons is a HUGE place. Maybe mention the establishment we are descending on?
