The funds were seized from the bank accounts of Canton Business Corporation, a New Zealand-registered company operating the exchange.

Anyhow coin redistribution shows positive trends - meaning more and more people own some, hence less people have a lot over time (some exceptions obviously apply) - so even when quantum computer overlords get their hands on sleeping coins, they will eventually have to sell. On June 20, 2011, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (#EFF) announced it would stop accepting #bitcoin donations. This happened just five months after the foundation embraced Bitcoin as new payment rails, and, interestingly, only a few days after #Wikileaks announced they had almost no other funding alternatives left besides Bitcoin.

🔓 MtGox Database Hack
On June 19, 2011, the #MtGox database was hacked. User data, containing information on 60,000 logins, email addresses, and password hashes, some of which were too simple and susceptible to brute-force attacks, was leaked.
On the same day, someone managed to gain access to MtGox's admin panel and place sell orders for hundreds of thousands of fake #bitcoin, causing the price on MtGox to drop from $17.51 per bitcoin to $0.01. Mt.Gox announced that these trades would be reversed.
Trading on MtGox was halted for 7 days. Trading was also briefly suspended on #TradeHill and #Britcoin while their security was checked.

Today I focused on the “Archiving” part of Bitcoin Calendar’s promise.
📦 ArchiveBox - a self hosted web page archiving tool - is now up and running on the project’s VPS.
Now I’ll be able to migrate all the events’ reference links to point to Bitcoin Calendars own web archive. This will greatly improve UX and allow visitors to browse all relevant archived links. Lots of benefits are also on the horizon for future development.
