Good day. #Wordle was a bit like my day again. Stuck in a rut for most of it.

Nice. I try and start with a different word every day and sometimes that can really screw me up. LOL

I found that there was a hidden partition on the drive I was installing to and once I’d reformatted again, the install worked. That said, I’d tried two old laptops by then in vain and eventually built my own out of old PC parts and a subwoofer case.

GM. I hope my world goes better than my Wordle today.

I’m surprised that there hasn't been any substantial fiction predicting the possibilities and future applications of bitcoin. I feel it’s an incredible building block for an imagined future on which to overlay a story. Something like Iain M Banks’ The Culture.

Cool, I'm definitely reading it. Is this near-term future on a bitcoin standard, by the way? Is there any good SF writing out there with bitcoin playing an integral role? I haven’t been able to find any.

I’m drafting a short story currently where Bitcoin and the bitcoin network is so ubiquitous that people barely know they’re using it or how it came about.

Are you leaning to space opera or more of a hard SF novel? I think there was something in the Lensman series, which is a bit of both, describing laser weapon issues. I’ll look it up.

True but even then that land may well have had a culture made up of centuries of invading cultures. But I know your point is that the world is becoming homogenous. The internet made that an inevitability.

You have to get away from the tourist zones and go where the locals go. There’s still history and diverse cultures and new food and drink out there. It’s just harder to find now.

I believe that aliens will only reveal themselves to us once our planet is on a #Bitcoin Standard. Only then will they deem us worthy of being introduced into the galactic community.

What was your biggest #bitcoin blunder that didn't involve selling it?

Mine was a double-whammy:

1. Mining directly to a hardware wallet, creating hundreds of tiny UTXOs, because I thought sending my rewards to the same address would amalgamate them.

2. Panicking when I understood what I’d done and consolidating the UTXOs during a period of high TX fees because I thought they were only going to get higher. Cost me hundreds of dollars in fees.

Education is everything. I’d heard about UTXOs but didn’t know what they were or how bitcoin worked.

I’m the type of person who doesn’t read the Ikea instructions. If bitcoin has taught me one thing, it’s not to mess with stuff before you understand it.

Working on self hosted public-pool.io on StartOS here: https://github.com/remcoros/public-pool-startos

Supports mainnet and testnet4. A testnet4 bitcoin core node service for StartOS is here: https://github.com/remcoros/bitcoind-startos

Currently running a Bitaxe Supra on testnet4.

Note 1: StartOS cannot forward the stratum port yet, follow instructions from the StartOS UI (or Instructions.md on github).

Note 2: I haven't found a block yet and have not tested on regtest (yet).

Cool. How’s this going? Currently using CKPool but would like to mine to a self-hosted service. I’ve recently set up on StartOS so this would be perfect.

It’s all going to be just fine. I think.
