If I build my own node can I host my own lighting wallet? Like how does that work? Can people send funds directly to my account on the node?

I had a major breakthrough this week in one of my engineering projects on an issue that’s been plaguing the environment for weeks.

In hindsight the answer was always right in front of me but I refused to look at it because testing the hypothesis had too high of impact for users. My stubbornness created more work for me in the long run.

This is my note to remind myself for when this happens again or something similar comes up.

You can create lighting invoices but not a direct wallet yet. You can connect your strike account to a 3rd party system which generate a wallet for you though.

People are complaining because they remove relays and lose followers. It’s because they only interact with those users on that specific relay and when the relay is removed the client no longer detects they are being followed by that person. The person following you is still following you but they want see your post because you are no longer writing to that relay….. that’s the gist but clients have a super unique ways of adding additional layers to this.

Be careful once you take the purple pill there is no going back. I’ve only been here 6 days and I’m already running my own relay. Make sure you check out #plebchain and remember the sats flow freely here.

What's your Client? Many have spam filtering built in. The true way is to add paid relays. You should be able to get access to 3 under 5 dollars. They are dirt cheap.

It happened to me. You are not alone. Some clients don't pull your relay data and you log in with their pre-populated relays wiping out the data.
