#Ukraine 8th Separate Rifle Battalion has captured an interesting prisoner of war. Italian Gianni Cenni (?) had previously lived in #Russia for 10 years with his Russian wife and worked in a pizzeria. He claims to have been illegally mobilised by the Russians and sent to the front. For some reason, now he no longer wants to live in Russia and wants to return to #Italy
Except⦠in Italy heās apparently wanted for a murder and rape of a 9-years old, which is likely why he ended up in Russia in the first place.
Isnāt that surprising that most people who seek political asylum in Russia are paedophiles, rapists, killers or corrupt politicians at best? š¤
La Stampa website that posted details of his story is unfortunately paywalled, Iāve only seen fragments of the article posted on Twitter:

Of course it is important for #Germany that #nuclear power is somehow excluded from EU funding:
āOur European economy needs affordable, fast and vast amounts of renewable energy,ā said Giegold at an event held by the Danish Embassy in Berlin. (ā¦) āIt is important to exclude nuclear energy and its production from all EU funding,ā the German politician said.
But the reason is not climate or safety, because Germanyās CO2 emissions are 10x higher than say Franceās or Sweden (both nuclear). The main reason is that under the delusional model of ā100% renewablessā invented by Germany with the help of Gazprom, the country is going to become less and less competitive and gradually become outliers as other countries acquire more low-carbon dispatchable generating capacity from nuclear, while Germany sticks to excessively redundant capacity in ārenewables plus gasā.
As a reminder, new investments in nuclear power are announced by #France, #Netherlands, UK, #Sweden, #Finland, #Estonia, #Poland, #Czechia, #Slovakia, #Bulgaria, #Romania, #Hungary and #Slovenia.

Theyāre wrong about so many things, which I believe is one of the reasons why weāre failing on the climate change mitigation efforts.
#Nigeria scientific journalists debunking popular anti #GMO narratives distributed in #Africa by Western āenvironmentalā activists and the reasons why they were relatively successful over the last 30 years:

#Russia Il-76 transport aicraft crashed in Ivanovo, north-west from Moscow today. Local residents filmed the aircraft at low altitude descending with burning engine, likely attempting an emergency landing on a local military airport. The aircraft ultimately crashed.
Riot police on #Poland #Ukraine border in Medyka trying to remove protesters blocking railway and dumping grain on the ground. Earlier Iāve also seen riot police removing protesters who blocked passenger buses.

So, in summary, the amount of attention granted by Western audience, and especially Russia experts, to Putinās interviews seems to surpass the amount granted by audience in Russia by an order of magnitude.
Also, while Russian audience remained generally unamused or ironic, Western audience approached Putinsā interview dead serious.

What could have been done before Carlson interview?

What had been done?
90% of Western media, including āRussia expertsā, simply repeated Putinās tropes voiced to Carlson - only some did it in real-time and some in the morning

Remember: when you share outrageous claims by a media personality with āOMG what a nonsenseā comment, itās like using ābutā in an apology.
The only thing that matters is that you shared the outrageous claims, interacted with it, full stop.
You just told every single algorithm in the world the content needs to be boosted because it increases user engagement. And nobody really cares about your āOMGā after the algorithms kick in.
Outrageous and false claims need to be debunked, only sharing them is the worst way of doing it.
When you copy-paste the controversial fragment and criticise it as a quote, you are actually impacting its author the most. You are confronting their statement but without interacting with them and signalling the media platform that itās worth boosting.
Are you wondering how an US journalist (well, letās use this term for Tucker Carlson gracefully) can travel to #Russia in the middle of a war and make interviews with #Putin to advertise his point of view? Well, in 2015 the price for such a moral flexibility was 600ā000 EUR and we only found out about it last year:
Seipel confirmed he had received support from Mordashov, saying āhis support relates exclusively to the book projectsā. He stressed he had remained impartial, saying: āI always set clear legal boundaries that guaranteed my independence.ā The documents, and Seipelās response, suggest the payments were for his work on a 2015 biography called Putin: Inner Views of Power and a 2021 title, Putinās Power: Why Europe Needs Russia, both originally written in German.

As a matter of fact European Union alone dedicated 1.2 billion EUR for #Palestine in 2021-2024. There were billions from other international aid organisations and private companies (Gaza IT hub) invested there.
The problem is that significant part of the money was used by #Hamas for building up its rocket arsenal, undeground tunnels and other military infrastructure, which was then used to launch the 7 October war.
You might also wonder how come Ismail Haniyeh and other top Palestinian figures became literal millionaires with luxury apartments in Quatar while heading Gaza, where official GDP per capita is $876

Well, Mecca Agreement came after 600-1000 Palestinians were already killed on both sides, including ~200 civilians. The agreement literally calls for ābanning the shedding of the Palestinian bloodā.
Apparently Hamas sponsors were shocked that their money is being wasted on killing Palestinians when it should be spent on killing Jews, and had to intervene.

i have to go for my lectures so here is a quick wrap up of our last discussion:
1. the shooting occur in tulkarm, not hawara. the cities are quite far apart. (1)
2. Even with regular perimeter standard post shooting, the surveillance perimeter doesnt make sense. apart from the fact that tulkarm was the major city, they only close a distant palestinian city, not the closer israelu ones.
3. IDF made inconsistent statement about their involvement. in the one as you mentioned above and in several other statements it said its army was the one who raids the huwara vity (2) while in others it said it was done by other parties (3)
4. I am actually searching for a statement from hamas saying the two gunmen whete theirs. mind sharing that? the news was widely circulated but the actual statement doesnt seemed to exist.
5. Hamas is the de facto government of gaza. having military preparedness is uncommon. even the USA has ever existing presence in china waters.
6. the 6th october incident was a tipping point. as you can see from (4) and (5) tere were numerous killing already occur in 2023, higher than the previous years. lookinh even further, the killing has always occurred beyond 15 years ago (6)

statement from hamas saying the two gunmen whete theirs
That was quoted in one of the articles. I donāt follow Hamas statements closely. I followed their Telegram channel for a while but it was similar to Russian military updates, with an endless stream of virtual victories, so I stopped.
Hamas is the de facto government of gaza.
Yes, since they took it with in armed conflict in 2007. This also means they bear 100% responsibility for the safety of civilians in Gaza. Except they directly denied that responsibility in the discussion of tunnels being reserved exclusively for Hamas members.
having military preparedness is uncommon.
Preparedness is one thing. A complex offensive operation that includes breaching guarded border and barrages of rockets fired from concealed launchers is completely different scale that requires careful planning and coordination. Canāt happen overnight.

I donāt know. In any case, IDF intervention in Hawara seems to have been response to the shooting. Plus there was another shooting, which Hamas admitted was done by its two members.
What Iām just trying to understand how did you come to a conclusion that 7 October massacre was organised overnight by Hamas and two shootings, one of which Hamas took responsibility for, constituted āviolation of ceasefire by Israelā.

Labib was mentioned in the Reuters article.
The shooting of a car is mentioned there and detailed in linked article:
And it actually comes out to be two shootings at that day. First:
The Islamist militant group Hamas claimed the slain Palestinians, aged 23 and 27, as its members.
Second:
The video, which could not immediately be verified by Reuters, shows a man opening fire at the back of a car standing in traffic before the vehicle swerves over to the opposite lane and the man runs after it while appearing to fire more shots

A background:
Technically there is no "palestinian citizen" under a legal construct because Palestine is not a member of UN, it only has an observer status (thanks to US veto). Palestine has two parts, the west bank and Gaza. while both hamas and fatah has majority in the last election of 2013, Hamas unable to gain international recognition as a government due to it being labelled as a terrorist organisation by foreign nation (it is irony as foreign nations can openly interfere with other nations policy). So the minority Falah government is considered as the formal president of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). However, the minority government Falah is essentially functionless after 45 PLC (equal to MPs in other countries) has been captured and prisoned by Israel (again, its funny how a diplomatic position personnel of a nation can be captured and detained by another nation) (1). With PNA being defunct, The west bank is basically colonized by Israel. the PLA passport is essentially produced by Israel themselvesthemselves (2). Gazans are not given passports, which is why they are legally termed as "refugees" in media. Most Gazans ended up obtaining passport from other nations, while west banks jews are directly entitled to Israeli passports.
So now back to your question:
as a jew in west bank with Israeli passport (which all of them having it as i said from reference two) they enjoy all benefits of an Israel citizen.
so how about jews in Gaza? prior to 2005, Hamas wasnt as strong as it is today and like the west bank, Gaza was previously colonized by Israel. The Al-Shifa hospital was in fact built by Israel and expanded by Israel prior to 2003). Initially, there were 21 Jew settlements in Gaza. However February 2005, the Ariel Sharon government made a decision to unilaterally enforce Israel citizen to all of them living within this settlement (if they have not obtained one), force them to move to new settlements outside of Gaza and without choice, demolish their existing houses in Gaza (3). in total, 8000 jews were affected by this move.
Post Hamas dominance in Gaza which took of in 2007, there are no documented immigration of jews into Gaza (primarily because they dont have a legal ability to form an immigration unit under international law anyway, and its borders are controlled completely by israel). But Hamas has changed of policy that of interest:
1. in 2017, the Hamas charter, which was considered anti-semitic was widthrawn. Hamas leaders revisited their policy and consider their war are against the state of israel, not towards the jew as a race or judaism as a faith (4).
2. With a new palestinian election planned i 2024 or 2025 (5) , Hamas has soften its policy and the possibility of accepting the two state solution if the 1968 resolutions was respected (6) . In fact, the current war was in fact triggered by Israeli force breaking the truce agreement on 6th october 2023 by demolishing the Huwara city and killing one palestinian (7).
3. While judaism jew, particularly of israel nationality cant even enter Gaza due to israel own policy, jew of christianity and muslim faith do exist and they do stayed i Gaza. notable are Dr. Barbara Zind, who is now stuck in Gaza due to the war. were she discriminated? she still hold her beliefs, she werent force to wear a hijab and she has been in and out of gaza so many times. I very much appreciate a detailed response and I was intrigued by this paragraph:
Israeli force breaking the truce agreement on 6th october 2023 by demolishing the Huwara city and killing one palestinian
Firstly, ādemolishing the Huwara cityā doesnāt seem to be an accurate description of events that followed[^1] incident that involved a Palestinian attacker trying to kill a woman and a child.[^2] Secondly, it sounds even more infeasible that Hamas prepared a large-scale military operation involving well-coordinated intrusion into Israel and massive rocket barrages literally overnight.
