bitcoiner. recovering shitcoiner.

The funny thing is the Republicans would do backflips to have good vibes with gen z. Breaking the old Reagan quote regarding youth and politics would give those bastards a major hard-on.

Seems like it worked

Seeing a lot of vim (and I agree). Also consider neovim as a bunch of the energy in the vim space is there now. Basically it is a reimplementation of vim with a better plugin system (lua).

Yeah, I think making a client is still a huge hurdle in farcaster. Frames are a standard-ish way of adding interactivity to the app that people are using. I've seen that others are picking up the frames spec so it will work outside farcaster, which is pretty interesting.

All this said, nostr is better, but we should pay attention to farcaster. At least in my view.

We made one that was a choose your own adventure sort of thing. Polls are the primary example. I kinda liked the wordle clone in frame as well.

The frames are spammy, but it is a cool feature to allow interactive mini-apps within the client. I'm not bought into the sufficiently decentralized nonsense, but there is definitely energy in the farcaster space.

This is sad. I think our focus on censorship resistance may come at the cost of creating a welcoming and friendly space. I'm not suggesting we ditch the goal of censorship resistance, but we should focus more on the tools to make the experience for those likely to be harassed (read women) better.

I understand this feeling. I don't know exactly why roya left but I have had my "fuck nostr" moments too.

last year I quit on International Women's Day because the amount of misogynistic and -insert prefix here-phobic content and memes that were floating around. It was on my own feed. it was in global feed. it was pervasive and everywhere.

I don't expect to be treated special on IWD. It is nice when it happens. When I was working overseas, the men on our development teams celebrated their women counterparts by paying their way during lunch and saying "Happy Women's Day" A simple, heartfelt sentiment. Had they not celebrated us, it would have been just another day at the office and been perfectly fine.

But no, on nostr, it would have been the equivalent of coming to work and having the men spit on us and make us feel less-than all day. Men that we worked alongside every other day of the year show their derision on just that one day.

I had people in my feed who I had interacted with churn out hate memes against women on just that day. It felt disgusting so I quit. what's the point of staying when most of my time spent here was gonna be hitting the block button?

Months later, I came back. I like the immaturity of nostr as a social space where the connections feel more authentic. Blocking is a powerful tool and I use it liberally. the social landscape change a little for the better while I was gone.

here's to hoping it continues to get better so the people who left will come back.

I think the improvements including web of trust in various ways should keep out the things so you don't need to block as much. I don't think we can expect people to become better, but the tools may help keep out the noise. We're getting there.

I was playing with it and the things I should have super-secret access to I don't. Again, not a big deal, but if you need further details let me know.
