I agree though that the spark lasts longer in a free market of ideas, relatively free of, or at least not actively incentivizing bad actors, in which suffering caused by participation is minimal. I would add that attrition is proportional to the percentage of participants that are not authentic humans acting in good faith.

Client side filtering options are better. This is a tradeoff that creates a middle man we prefer to the middle man we already had. Not the ideal path to sustainability for nostr infrastructure providers.

They should be responsible for conceding the tradeoff involves a sacrifice of certainty, sovereignty, debatably, they are doing that already. Users should be aware of the sacrifice. Debatably you need to do what you are doing because their actions aren't sufficient to ensure that they are.
On the other side, you should be responsible for conceding that you are in the minority opinion. But arguing a principled position. It should be Agreed by both sides that your position is technically right! Your argument should be able to be focused on the fact that you believe those trade offs to be misguided.
And the minority position should have more respect than it does. All ideas begin there.

Or a zap is the literal notification that a note should be re-stored to the type of relays that lots of people would then choose to use. Make a relay that only stores zapped notes global minus any npub not in the top 10 known irl decent humans and 3 hops of followers, and recommend that relay as a spam and unmentionables free onboarding relay.
