I think most of them require that you buy a fiat balance for spending. Bitrefill works and bringin wants to enable a card feature soon. Bringin is non custodial, small and struggling so they need the users...

Unfortunately Bitcoin requires internet. Machankura also needs internet on their systems to interact with Bitcoin.

Nostr could help reduce Bitcoin's reliance on TCP-IP though - and your reliance also...

* Your server can lose access to it's domain or it's IP address, but your npub can't be censored.

* You can self host a nostr relay behind a static IP (paid in Bitcoin) from a VPN provider.

* You can use TollGates to reduce your reliance on ISPs: https://github.com/chGoodchild/GLTollGate

Hopefully TollGate becomes a reliable source of income for users who operate such routers in future. We are currently working on improving nostr support for the routers so that the router's can talk to each other and their fleet operator without having a backend.

Are you comfortable with Router's? TollGate might be able to put bounties on the GitHub issues if the project gets funding...

Sure that's the goal. The internet is global :)

I'm still working on making it user friendly so I suggest waiting a few weeks before installing it. I'm testing it on a router called GLAR300m, but I'm happy to provide support if someone wants to try a different OpenWRT router.

Perhaps it's possible to replace the infotainment system without affecting the road worthyness certifications...

Ready for Troubleshooting!

Do you mean something along the lines of zero knowledge proofs? What would you use them for?

It sources internet from other Internet gateways, but you can treat it like an ISP that doesn't KYC you. All it needs is Bitcoin and your good to go.

So far it's all WiFi, but the goal to make the market so efficient on our side of the TollGate that the supply chain (ISPs and their suppliers) are forced onto Bitcoin rails.

Using a captive portal called nodogsplash
