It makes me think of how Nostr is going to be fundamentally different than any other digital social network ever created.

It allows Reddit levels of anonimity and nesting, with superior curation and discovery possibilities.

the nuance here i think is that it may be important to use the right words.. there isnt really a 'chain rollback'.. its a fork. there would be north korea eth, and new eth.. sure, on the new fork the data has been altered i am unsure exactly how they decide what to change but its a mess im sure.. maybe they get a little richer on the side too with their buddies, fudge a couple extra eth in for the exchanges or stakeholders to 'convince them'.

because what happens is vitalik and crew have to get all the exchanges and the validators and everybody to switch to the new fork. they will still call it eth of course. if they cant get a consensus then it wont happen. if they do, many centralized exchanges will keep the old eth and dump it. usually the customers that have coins there will not be able to participate in this.

so, anyways, yeah i think it is important to call it a fork, so people are more aware how stuff happens, as it can happen with any blockchain (including bitcoin). once cz said he and friends 'had the power' to do this dance with bitcoin but decided not to as to not erode the faith. it could have easily happened for the BCH thing too and could come up again for bitcoin in the future.

this is why its important to mine, to run nodes, and be aware how things work.. so calling it a rollback doesn't really do it justice.

Yes, I'm now starting the potential centralization Bitcoin risks rabbit hole, with mining pools (and other stuff) and I do think this is a conversation (among others) that should be had in the background in order to keep Bitcoin as secure and decentralized as possible.

grapevine-brainstorm.vercel.app uses neo4j to maintain a graph of NostrUsers and their FOLLOW and MUTE connections. Visitors to the site can calculate personalized hops, personalized PageRank and personalized GrapeRank scores and browse the results in table format. They can also export those scores as kind 30382 events following nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z's NIP-85 format which means the scores can be imported and used by clients for whatever purposes they see fit (although I don’t think any clients are using NIP-85 yet). Once the details of nostr:npub1wf4pufsucer5va8g9p0rj5dnhvfeh6d8w0g6eayaep5dhps6rsgs43dgh9 and nostr:npub176p7sup477k5738qhxx0hk2n0cty2k5je5uvalzvkvwmw4tltmeqw7vgup ‘s WoT DVM NIP are hammered out to the satisfaction of a few client devs, I’ll also make personalized WoT scores available via API.

Currently I’m taking what I learned building the above service to build a next-generation personalized WoT relay. It will run strfry and neo4j together, calculate personalized WoT scores as above, and use those scores to manage strfry filters and plugins. I think it will do better than state of the art personalized WoT relays which are fantastic at weeding out spam, but probably err on the side of being too exclusive. My fear with existing personalized WoT relays is that newcomers to nostr are filtered out by default, they’ll get little if any engagement, and too many will quit nostr before discovering how awesome it can be. Personalized centrality algos like personalized PageRank and personalized GrapeRank do a much better job of sorting the wheat from the chaff and imho are a needed tool if we are ever to address that problem.

So how could personalized grapevine WoT relays possibly relate to the brain? The challenge that faces us today is to build freedom tech that solves real problems for real people. I’m using neo4j because it’s the most mature FOSS graph database that I’m aware of. It has an enterprise edition that funds its development, but the community edition is enough for my purposes.

By the way, I assume there's a huge correlation to neurology. I was just reading about it and it seems AI (neural networks) don't exactly use graph databases, it's more like vector representations. I do wonder if this will become a thing in the near future. I would say there might be a connection there. It's fascinating stuff.

I have no idea. But there's a functionality that lists the connection degree to a given person when you're in their profile (among other person recommendation algos). i.e If we're at Peter profile Linkedin gives a list of people like "John's a direct connection to Peter, can introduce you", "Carla is a 2nd connection to Peter", etc, etc.

Something like this at least :)

I still have to read more about neo4j and understand more its use cases. It's pretty cool!

An example of something the FOSS graph database #neo4j makes super easy: calculation of the minimum number of hops it takes to get from a reference pubkey to any other pubkey. This can be used in a personalized grapevine WoT relay where neo4j maintains a graph of NostrUser nodes connected by FOLLOWS relationships, and the reference pubkey is YOU (you are always at the center of your grapevine!)

You only need 3 cypher commands:

MATCH (u:NostrUser) SET u.hops=999

MATCH (u:NostrUser {pubkey:''}) SET u.hops=0

MATCH (u1:NostrUser)-[:FOLLOWS]->(u2:NostrUser) WHERE u2.hops - u1.hops > 1 SET u2.hops = u1.hops + 1

The third command repeats until no more nodes get updated, typically around 7 or 8 iterations. Each iteration typically takes well under one second.

I love this algorithm. This is most likely the basic Linkedin's algorithm to calculate the path for the connection with any given person, right?

Do you have power over any law or budget? Do you have any way to control Trump, or any president, senator or any "representative" in any way, shape or form? Of course you don't. They can do anything and you (us) can't do squat about it.

They can do whatever they want at any level. It's all a big scam. They use the word democracy. The only real democracy for me is Switzerland. There the people (any individual) can veto actual budgets, specific laws, etc, etc.

Only Bitcoin values houses properly. No country, fiat, statistic, etc, etc, can ever value houses properly. So in the end it's all a fluctuation of irrelevant data.

Because it all lead to its marginal cost of production, i.e the real cost of housing, in relation to Bitcoin and with given time.

TLDR: Nobody actually knows what houses are really worth. Price discovery for houses (and everything else) is in fact broken.
