Wanted to be at a Nostr conference, but this is next best. Under a plastic palm tree at the local swimming pool, I can squint and imagine...

I read too quickly. You were asking for Nostr longposters, I was responding as though you were asking for authors who would fit well in the nostr longposting universe... because I still scroll and respond like a Twittiot sometimes.

Although there are probably a few, it's the wrong question, IMO.

To find the revolution, what authors are:

a) Banned from making Twitter threads

b) Think asking people to 'subscribe to my substack' for the cost of a meal per day is offensive and/or disagree with Substack's user agreement and/or haven't the 'clout' to draw income with a paywall

c) Aren't being found on Ghost.org

d) self-custody their independent, free writing, and therefore are banned from the network effects of ever having a chance to be found on a search engine

e) work at centralized archive companies/services / National Archives

f) create scholarly articles yet understand that the gatekeeping peer review process is corrupt

Or if you must chase those who are already successful in a paradigm that does not reward free thinking,

- successful bloggers who can crosspost to nostr for mutual benefit

We are well beyond 'opinions' on Donald Trump, star of the Apprentice, who was universally respected, and whom you probably thought was hilarious, until 2015.

I support Trump 2024 first and foremost because I denounce stolen elections. If foreign powers and captured domestics steal the election, I want it fixed.

Even if you don't like the guy, he is the only man on earth who has a legitimate claim to the United States Presidency - he won the vote in 2020, provably, obviously.

All the worst warmongers and corrupt government grifters and connected special interests and agencies, with the help of foreign adversaries, have been attacking him ever since.

The way I see it, you either believe in having a president who represents the people based on a fair vote (even if it's not your president!), or you believe in elite insiders selecting the president they want.

If it's the latter, I hope it's because you don't have the facts. But at this point, they are so easy to find...

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Can you imagine, a President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in the history of our Country, and who is also the Republican Nominee for President in the upcoming 2024 Election, and leading in all polls against the Democrat Nominee, Joe Biden, is tomorrow going before a Corrupt and Conflicted Democrat Appointed, Acting New York Judge, on a FAKE & MADE UP CASE by a Soros backed failed D.A., and the Judge himself, to see whether or not he will become a common criminal? According to virtually all Legal Scholars and Experts, THERE IS NO CRIME OR CASE against President Trump, and if there was it should have been brought seven years ago, not in the middle of his Campaign for President. Prosecutorial Misconduct. Election Interference!

==================

I also like his wife and kids. Who doesn't? I watched the Apprentice first 5 seasons or so, that was fun. Ivanka is smart as a whip, Don Jr is savvy and respectable. Trump makes some great decisions, and some questionable ones, as one might expect based on 2016-2020. But my God. It's just fun.

For that matter, Michelle Obama is pleasant, Travis Kelce is charismatic, I listened to Hillary Clinton on a podcast and then had a nice dinner with my kids and enjoyed the rest of the day. Why not?

Many of you are weird, and do not appear stable, when it comes to the opposition - on both sides.

Chill and fix this country. Don't be part of the radically emotional ridiculousness that drives us apart. IMO

"We believe that property rights are fundamental to a free society and that Joe Biden's rampant inflation is a monstrous theft from the American people.A theft.We believe that the greatest threat to our country is not from enemies abroad. It's to tyrants, communists, fascists and thugs attacking our rights and liberties from within and above all else.We live by the words of the great American patriot, Patrick Henry.Give me liberty or give me death."

I don't know who originally wrote these words, but they demonstrate an understanding of political theory light years ahead of the current political class, the base of either ruling party, the public at large, and even the common ground among some of the politically aware groups I would enjoy time with.

Spoken by Trump at the Libertarian Party convention. Together, MAGA, libertarians, anti-war, freedom lovers, and privacy advocates Cannot. Be. Stopped.

We don't disagree. A marketplace of algorithms, some that are static rulebased and would show the same feed for everyone who uses them (like those in the video it looks like) - such as 'these five hashtags' will be useful to a wide swath of people. But imagine they are five corporate hashtags. The end game is that the hashtags / npubs / notes are chosen based on my preferences for me, and your preferences for you. The algo builds based on my sliders, knobs, levers, defaults, preferences, WOT scores, and I can change them to see what changes, rather than, the algo builds based on the engineer's ideas and preferences.

Centralized implementation of the tool through a limiting idea, principle, or structure that the engineer has in mind is not ideal. Each algorithm producer may have the ability to create something useful, but the ultimate is when the algorithm builds the feed on the fly based on user's preferences and individualized WOT score. Though a step in the right direction, we must not settle for 'more centralized options' when the end goal is 'individualized choice.'

Parallel thoughts ^there. Centralized implementation of the tool through a limiting idea, principle, or structure that the engineer has in mind is a non-starter. It must MUST be an entirely different trust score for each individual, based on the individual's choices. And we must discourage wholesale adoption of standard trust data during onboarding at every turn, ensuring a seed for each user that allows for ownership of one's own discernment, rather than delegation to a one-click preset that threatens to defeat the purpose.

Kids and I invented a lego game. Each person adds one piece to the foundation at a time until it falls. Or each person has their own foundation and you choose one that the person has to put on their foundation.

E2EE DMs are coming to Nostr πŸ”’

After being nerd sniped by hearing nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 mention OTR for the millionth time on the Bitcoin Review podcast, I spent the last few weeks digging into OTR, the Signal protocol, and a grab-bag of other cryptography.

The end result is that I (am pretty sure at least) that I found a way to do E2EE (end-to-end encrypted) DMs on Nostr in a way that is both forward and post-compromise secure AND doesn't require any centralized servers.

Huge thanks to nostr:npub1klkk3vrzme455yh9rl2jshq7rc8dpegj3ndf82c3ks2sk40dxt7qulx3vt and nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft for the chats while I worked out the details.

Do I understand this correctly that there is only vulnerability to eavesdropping in realtime - so since the diffie-helmann ratchet isn't created on every msg / until a response, the the window for eavesdropping is as long as the time it will take to receive that response. Therefore in any context / setup where the individual must consider there is a chance of realtime eavesdropping, the overall risk factor is affected by the probability the needed response will come quickly? Or is it just necessary that the client implement different ratchet procedure (diffie-helmann on every msg) to detach risk profile from responsetime?

Option for user, with identifying data cleared by default to every extent possible on any ostensibly privacy-oriented software.
