This was just after their mother swooped in with food. I’d like to return tomorrow to catch a shot of her but by then her overgrown hatchlings may be flying.

Picked up this out of print photobook as a reference for the essay collection I’m translating. Luscious photos of petite planes against sublime rugged landscapes and not a few good tales about daring flights. Makes me almost wish I’d become a bush pilot.

One observation from cross posting to multiple accounts across the fediverse is that attention varies widely from network to network for the same post. It just illustrates how interest in any given thought can depend on random factors like time of day, algorithms, and the mood of the users etc.

Started writing a new short story in Japanese this morning. Based on a plot synopsis, it has already been accepted for publication in an SF anthology this fall. This will be my first published work of fiction written entirely in my second language.

Just finished the first draft of the book I’m translating. Now comes the tricky part: editing the text so that (ideally) it reads as though it might have been written in English to begin with.

Look what I brought home from the supermarket today! No, it’s not the primordial substance of a forming galaxy. What is it? Sea grapes of course! Also known as green caviar if you want to pretend these crunchy bubbles of algae are fancy. Yum!
