A bitaxe has found a block

Inside scoop on my "deleting" nym and coming back:

Anytime bitcoiners start getting arrested, I get scared and burn my nym (typical pattern for me - have done several times, trucker protest, tornado cash etc). I have worked on joinmarket, btcpayserver, almost arrested for nodeless.io, so I scare easily

This nym is different because for first time I showed my face and name to Bitcoin industry, so burning didn't really work.

I am also pretty addicted so social media if I'm being honest so deleting nym helps my productivity.

I am also slightly autistic.

But ultimately I never left, I was under another nym that many of you knew. But it just didn't hit right.

But now that my big project is launched (bitvora.com), that if the state wants to arrest me, I am easy to find, there is really no benefit to burning the nym.

No promises that I won't impulsively do it again in the future.

I think I’m with you on the evolution vs sunscreen debate.

The reason though people need sunscreen is because they spend so much time covered and indoors. Our skin needs to build its protection through slowly increased exposure. If we go out in the sun in the middle of summer for our first dose we’ll get burned and that is shit. Also, the idea of going out into the blazing hot midday sun with bare skin is frikin cray cray. Find me any mammal that doesn’t find shade during the hottest parts of the summers day.

My strategy for the last 20 years has been to get out in the sun as early in the year as possible, even warm late winter days here in Korea (overcoming the funny looks I receive 🤣). Then as summer and intensity builds start getting out before 11:30am and after 3:30/4pm, all without sunscreen. Then if I have to be out between the hottest hours I wear a wide brimmed hat and a long sleeve linen shirt.

Works a treat, get your vitamin D dosage, no sunscreen needed.

I think a big part of his personal story is that he went to journalism school with Hugh Hefner and they knew each other in college. That really fucked with him his whole life, that if he had the same guts he could have had the same kind of life. It probably wasn’t true, but that’s what he believed.

When I was 18 my grandfather was put on hospice care.

I was in college about two hours away.

So I would take the train out and visit with him as often as I could during those final few months.

One day it snowed. The first snow of the winter. I took a photo of it and came in the house to show him.

He was laying in his hospital bed staring out the window.

I could tell he was reflecting on his life and regretting many of his choices.

Layer that night he grabbed me by the arm and said…

“you know Hodl, out there are a couple of guys on a beach somewhere with pretty girls sitting in their laps… and the only difference between us and them is that they have balls.”

I never forgot it. The message was clear.

I’m old and dying. It’s too late for me, but not for you kid. Be a goddamn man in this life. Have some balls.

A few years later I put everything I had into bitcoin.
