nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u This is something I've been noticing, too. It's more about talking to people like people, instead of creating unnecessary trauma for clout.
Can't say that's true for everyone on here, but, it's been much more pleasant. I find it easier to approach folks here than on other places, too.
nostr:npub1cvme6mxs0m4vcsz3333jc3qn73upj4mxuqn7tqhhralc8hz4j2dsxsne4j yeah. i find there's one in every crowd that doesn't quite get the memo.
but even then, that's ok. i just don't engage with them, and they can see if they look.. i engaged with most everybody else. >.>
they'll figure it out or keep screeching unpleasantly into the void. either way, i'm ok because they're the rare one in the bunch, not the general vibe of the group. :)
that's really nice and refreshing.
yanno.. people take it better here when you have a disagreement. they seem to approach it exactly as i meant it at least, like a conversation, we're working out our thoughts. we're not making judgements or attacks.
at least.. the ones i've run into. i have way better exchanges here than "elsewhere" on other social media platforms.

there is room for both dogs in my chair but.. no.. they decide there can be only one or they fight about it. lol
Currently doing work with a dog toy dangling from my wrist "just in case" of doggy play-attack.

you ever seen a performatively woke narcissist go from one mood to a completely different one because YOU knew about something locally they didn't and they got mad because you made them look less woke than they pretended to be in front of you?
yeah. it is funny.
the buildings are already gone, but somehow he was gonna "do something" about displaced poor and disabled people all of a sudden.
sure, Jan.
you'll go pay for another YouTuber to talk to you about it though.
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u yeah. I donβt need any more pedals either π
nostr:npub1p8rnfvpj4fa3lz6ptm3ym8uz0wlu6g2ydnq2hda6gpd8qf0520pqvlefmy they shiny tho. and sometimes they light up.
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u you cannot have too many pedals π€£
nostr:npub1p8rnfvpj4fa3lz6ptm3ym8uz0wlu6g2ydnq2hda6gpd8qf0520pqvlefmy i mean.. you're not wrong. lol
i have to test this lil cheapo Behringer octave pedal i got the other day, but if it is relatively decent.. i won't have any other pedals on my wishlist until next year or at least christmas. hahaha
nostr:npub18ryrph9yzdhl6rwfahm655nzla0r5jmgyf5dkuaad86vks8ea6msqacyge you are so correct.
In Gear Acquisition Syndrome News, I ordered another pedal. Lol
This one.. an EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 (with expression)
Oh Sweetwater, why you let me finance that for $8/month? Foul tempter.
You got me.
Was lookin at a neato new style of basic tee but they used the bullshit term "colorway" so I said nah.
May His Noodly Appendages strike that nonsense from the human record.
nostr:npub1a9rkrly5mdjra26gzmwcsa7uldmd7wpzz333p0yuuan83qqaccrqyffs5r ok then, how you just gonna be gorgeous and reinvent lipgloss like a genius?
Is there anything you can't do?
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u forgot to mention i just do this hobby in my spare time lol.
i feel charging for it would just cause unnecessary barriers. not only that, i have certain quality standards. the stuff i put out previously did not meet them, therefore i wouldn't sit right with me to charge for it. maybe my influences have set impossibly high standards for me and maybe its been a steep hill to climb. but i feel it has helped a great deal with self discipline.
that last part about the value of music can be a whole discussion in itself, one I don't have enough brainpower to partake in on my work break lol.
nostr:npub1cqpya3q49xjdr2azs0gpj9tlqvknxtlfhfyxau2c5lczszy8fnjq9c7vgx understand! Please come back and get in depth later if you want. Hope your day goes well!
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u I lean towards not giving it away, but as a means to an end, with conditions. In other words, it both puts "this has value" (at least in a capitalist society) out front, while also helping to enable keeping doing it, because time, money, time, money, repeat.
*But that said*, it's also a really narrow bridge! I have to remind myself constantly, even as an "indie", that the commodification gears start to grind very quickly once you start to catch a wind, so to speak.
nostr:npub1e8wn8uua8p8w4e0r8gg6mfl6glc86c5yvtu7dhp03mgmgzvyjxkqfzcr68 yeah. If the wind blows.. it can be tempting to get caught in it. Especially if anything really goes viral, on any level. I was really emotional over getting one track on some playlist it got a lot of plays from. That wasn't even money tho. Imagine if it was?
I dunno that is likely to happen to me but if it does, we'll have new talks! Lol
I think if I make new stuff, I may reduce older stuff. I did price high for initial release with intent to lower price later.
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u I generally haven't sold my music for two reasons, the first being that my music has had a long trend in improving and prior to now, I really didn't consider it to be up to my standard of the music I have paid for, though at this point it feels like I have crossed that threshold
The second reason is because I know people online have access to as many resources as I do, ripping songs is pretty trivial now, and I did a lot of that when I couldn't pay for the music I wanted
nostr:npub15jg3u452ekt6uxkcpfzl2cp7mk4lgfaxae3pt3wswa79vz6qg0zscsh23h i think you should try takin some money. See how it makes you think a lil different about your process.
A lot of visual artists I went to school with had similar attitude. Like they had to improve before they could value their work.
Put it this way.. you will learn every time you even try to make anything. You still achieved something worthy each time. Which learning experience was worth more or less?
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u I generally haven't sold my music for two reasons, the first being that my music has had a long trend in improving and prior to now, I really didn't consider it to be up to my standard of the music I have paid for, though at this point it feels like I have crossed that threshold

nostr:npub15jg3u452ekt6uxkcpfzl2cp7mk4lgfaxae3pt3wswa79vz6qg0zscsh23h friend, that sounds like impostor syndrome tho?
Sincerely. You have a right to make a dollar or two even if you think it is not your best, or less good than somebody else.
Do you accept money donations at least? Like let people pay if they want to?
nostr:npub1hd2rzs04wqq4pqavyr9dnmczg80nzgwg0p73eu3y63ck3gf4ejwsz2zm0u I actually think that it is easier to get people to pay attention to your music if you don't give it away. People seem to have a hard time valuing things they get for free Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
nostr:npub1gzdd5f3alms7q88ypsqygg3g544sr568ryx0qpq0y0x75pqle3ls3swfsq i tend to view things this way as an artist, musician, and creative person.
People tend to undervalue creative talent in ways that are both insulting and threats to our livelihoods.
But there are sincerely held beliefs about giving things away that to those people makes a lot of sense and I do want to understand it.
It however feels like taking a purposeful vow of poverty.. at least it would be for me. I do not have a steady "day job" and must live off my creative works.
