Imagine if nostr was using cardano instead of lightning for zaps 🤣🤣🤣
Ill definitely be listening to this once posted...glad Matt finally was able to have that interview :)
Its about sending a message...

A key difference is the ease with nostr that you can take your keys and thus your notes to other relays. I tried pretty hard to use mastadon and it was really hard to find people and interact with people on other servers. My understanding too was that if you joined a certain server and got banned by the server owner, you'd be pretty bummed because you'd need to start all over with making a new account, friending people again, finding them, etc (might not even be able to find them if they are all on that server you got banned from).
Nostr makes it really easy to pack up your things and leave a relay in comparison, and find your friends on other mutually shared relays if you got banned. This reality that people can easily move to the best relays will reduce censorship attempts, especially as relays try and monetize (in my opinion).
To me, it's kind of like the diff between ethereum staking and bitcoin mining. Ethereum staking is highly centralized, and if u have your ETH in a staked pool like coinbase, you can't move that stake you are completely captured and stuck. But with bitcoin mining, even though there are 3 pools responsible for generating more than 50% of the hash, it's just not the same because the people with the ASICs can point those miners at a different pool with a few clicks of a button.
Catch-22 style debasement scam alert! Good luck accumulating enough shitcoin A to turn shitcoin B into dollars ( shitcoin C). All 3 will be concurrently debasing...like water through your fingers.

No sir...you are not 🤣
Cut the like out of the equation...zaps are the new like 😉
Release v0.17.5: 0 Follows no more.
The app now caches your follows and uses them to start up. The worst it can happen is to go back to the Amethyst version after updating your follows (or relays) from another client.
- Fixes issue with overriding follow list to zero
- Fixes Notification Dot for Zaps
- Faster notification updates
- Refactoring the saving of user preferences
- More caching to increase the speed of updating lists across the app
- Potentially fixing Notifications crash on Samsungs

Im very grateful for the work you put into amethyst 👍
Seems like a client could be made with this kind of user friendliness. Perhaps say i could be a guardian to my noob family or friends...setting the relays for them. Now i can even control the relays my kids are on, say just the Sesame Street and Bill Nye relays + the family relay. Now i have admin control to turn the relays off for sleep automatically at 9 😮
All the existing models are dead.
The applications really start expandijg from here...imagine you run 3 private relays...one for your family...one for your friends...one for your neighborhood...
You could start a private relay...give it to your family members... Everyone in family uses keys that only use that relay...and now you have a little family social media with no centralized entity involved and can choose whichever client you personally want to use to interact with family. Pretty incredible to think about.
I went paid relays only...life is better and there is zero spam 👍

Id love to hear a bit about what like a day or a week in the trenches working on bitcoin core is like day in day out. Does the job feel isolating and alone or is it the opposite where there is lots of people willing to help when you find issues?
Will home mining make a comeback and what will that look like ?
ya imagine if your tipping followed you around from job to job...gig to gig. Not within each job. I think that is a better way to do it and lightning enables that without friction!
When my daughter comes of age to get her first job...maybe as a waiter or something of the sort. We'll be making a lnurl qr code patch that can be pinned to ones shirt for whatever service you are doing where someone may feel like tipping you.
