Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

That's true. I wasn't really factoring in the dollar's deflation and the impact of inflation.

But the chain doesn't support millisats, does it? I thought it was limited to 8 decimal places. 🤔

Zapping will cease if bitcoin is at $1 billion. At that price, 1 sat would be worth $10. Maybe zaps won't totally cease, but they'll be drastically reduced.

Similar to the sex offender registry, I believe an animal abuser registry should be established. People convicted of animal abuse should be put on the registry for a time period commensurate with the severity of their crime.

Veterinarians, pet shops, shelters, and animal control agencies should be required to check the registry anytime someone wants to obtain an animal. And people should be able to look at a map of their areas to see who and how many animal abusers live in their vicinity, just like the sex offender registry.

Housing and apartment managers could even look up prospective tenants to see if they have a history of animal abuse before deciding whether or not to rent housing to them. It's long past time that we, as a society, take meaningful action to punish and discourage animal abuse because the current misdemeanor charge and fine simply aren't sufficient. It's just a thought, and I'm interested in your perspective. #blog #animals

I would immediately close my account. Somehow, other banks are able to survive without charging people money to withdraw their own cash.

If you have relay.damus.io setup in your Cashu Wallet relay settings under your NWC allowance it's fine.

The allowance amount? It allows you to set a maximum daily zap amount to help keep you under your desired budget. 1000 is the default, and every successful zap will be deducted and displayed so you can see how much of your budget you have left for the day. It only deducts when the zap is successful so it's a good indicator of whether things are working.

Also you need to re-copy/paste the NWC connect string into Damus after you made all these changes because the connect string you pasted into Damus is coded to the old incorrect npub.

Did you confirm that the wallet address shown in settings reflects your correct npub? And in the NWC section where it says "allowance left" is it still showing 1000 sats?

Yeah, it's bullshit. Unless you have a nostr signing extention for your browser, you need to enter your nsec. The warning is just precautionary. It's no different from entering your nsec in your client.

I found your problem. You're haven't linked your nostr npub with the wallet and it's using an npub generated from your wallet seed. You can see that the npub it has listed doesn't match your nostr npub.

You have go up to the top of settings and under the "Your nostr keys" section you have to select "use your nsec" and paste your nsec into the provided form. You should see your nostr npub replace the current npub linked to the wallet.

Then, toggle the "enable payment requests" on, and also turn on the "receive automatically" toggle.

Once you do all that and your correct npub is shown in the wallet settings, you'll need to update your nostr profile with the updated @npub.cash address which will also reflect your correct nostr npub.

Lemme know when you get that far.

And try manually sending a small zap to slcw@npub.cash so we can see if the general send function is working.

Let me see this part of your settings

I haven't received the zap. Somethings wrong with your NWC. Can you send me a screenshot of your settings page?

I would recommend going to npub.cash and registering a custom LN address linked to your npub. You could do bfgreen@npub.cash or something similar. The custom name will cost you 5000 sats one-time fee. But I think it's worth it because @npub.cash is ugly and not easily shared with others.
