I've been doin audiobooks lately. There's a lot of time during the day when I can put it on and listen while I'm driving, or cleaning up the kitchen, or just chillin in the living room. I'm able to get through titles faster than if I was reading them. I got an Audible subscription and I get one title each month, and discounts on any other titles I might want to buy. Plus, I get access to their Plus catalog, which features different titles every month. I get access to all those titles so I can listen to as many as I want. It's been a great way to consume books of all types.
Have you used the BitKey device? If yes, what's your experience been? Are you happy with it? How's the build quality?
It looks pretty cool. Their 2/3 multi-sig using the hardware key, your phone, and a 3rd encrypted key on the BitKey servers is really nice. Nunchuk Wallet does something very similar, but using Coldcard and Tapsigner, along with a 3rd encrypted key on their servers. And the price point is decent. Only $100 for the BitKey hardware do-hickey.
I currently use a Tapsigner as the key to my single-sig hot wallet, and I was thinking of getting a Coldcard to use with a new Taproot multi-sig wallet, but now I'm thinking of getting the BitKey. I'd like to hear some reviews from people who use it before I make my decision, but I know the BitKey is new, so it might be a month or two before we start hearing about people's experiences with it.
My bitcoin purchases go straight to a paper wallet. I'm monitoring the xpub through Mycelium, but the private key has never never left the paper.
You should organize one. If you build it, they will come.
I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. I've decided that Cashu Wallet in its current state isn't practical as a full-service Nostr wallet. Receiving is fine, but sending via NWC requires that you open the wallet before zapping. Which defeats the purpose of NWC. It's not convenient to load Cashu everytime you want to zap. Because when you do zap, there's an approval you have to do in the wallet before it will send. I think calle is working on it, but there's no expected time frame that it will be resolved.
I've opened my own Lightning node with nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjygpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd3skueqpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsxj0y5x, and it's been a great experience so far. I control my own channels and liquidity, and they provide a Lightning address for receiving zaps, and they fully support NWC so it facilitates sending zaps. And it all works. I'm even able to use NWC to connect it to the Alby Go wallet, so I can use that as a front-end for the node. It's also web-based so it's fully compatible with all platforms. It may be a good solution for you, as well, so check it out when you have time. rizful.com
There should be an entire galaxy based on the npub/nsec pair. It should be used to authenticate everything from social media, to traditional financial services, to medical and health services. Instead of email addresses, the npub should be the universal identifier that ultimately puts all the data and control in the hands of the user.
nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg in the browser does not seem to be recognizing browser extensions (like Nostr Connect) for signing. Are you aware, this was working previously?
As usual, this works flawlessly on Android. But I guess it doesn't work on iOS. I'm frustrated on your behalf. Other than Damus and Will's other endeavors, it seems iOS Nostr always gets the shit end of the stick.
Oh, yeah that's no good. If I get duplicate words I start over.
Actually, no. I don't really care which words are used. What was so awful about yours?
It's very new. basically still in alpha. And Pablo has been pushing updates with fixes and improvements on a regular basis.
Netflix apparently wants screenwriters to start having characters narrate what they're doing to accommodate users who may be off doing something else while their show or movie is on. You know, so they can still follow along from the kitchen. I'm not even kidding. π
Have you tried Olas yet? It's a client meant for posting media notes, with a layout similar to Instagram. It's becoming the go-to place for browsing media notes.
Personally, I don't think taking on the role of routing node is a great idea for people running personal nodes. It's a lot of aggravation for not a lot of reward. I say leave that for mid-size and large nodes.
