Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

The relay thing is the only thing that isn't immediately intuitive, but as you said, it's like 10-30 minutes of light research. And many clients are configured so you don't need to know anything about relays. You just login and go.

i just found this vid bc of it lmaoooo

The first comment i saw was “too complicated”

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

It's not at all complicated. It's just different than the rest of the social media paradigm. People who are unable understand the difference between difficult and different probably shouldn't be online in the first place.

1) On the web app, we can't seem to get our "followers" number to populate (see screenshot)

2) on iOS, we don't see anything under "Zaps"

Do you have recommendations on how to fix these issues? My guess it isn't related to relays, since Nostr.band shows our followers number?

thanks!

The followers metric is not easy to accurately tally. It comes from a query of all your defined relays, so depending on connectivity, it could be inaccurate. Nostr.band maintains a somewhat current tally, but even that isn't always 100% correct, and clients don't necessarily pull that data from nostr.band. Amethyst, for example, does their own relay query, which doesn't happen unless you're viewing your profile. And it takes a while to fully calculate. If you want to use YakiHonne, I think you need to contact them and ask them where, exactly, they're getting that data from, and how often it's updated.

I'm priming the pump. Hopefully, people will the 1 sat I zapped, and feel compelled to jump on the bandwagon!

I certainly wish you luck, but I wouldn't count on success. 😂

It's not worth the 2x price tag, IMO. The biggest change is the larger screen and the updated case. Functionality wise, it's nearly the same as the original Jade.

Big thanks to nostr:npub1vkgj57k30l2u7wave6t4nua75wjylx3nju6qu4vu7pneghwx8zlsf7q4uq for being the first #NOSTR friend to grab my Survey Blueprint Ebook using #Sats

I'm looking forward to digging in to it this weekend! 👍

I do once or twice monthly because I typically get paid monthly. I could break it up into weekly, or daily purchases, but it's just easier to buy when the checks come in.

Yea man I’m excited for it

I preordered it on release day.

I'm more of a DIY guy. I really like the SeedSigner. I just ordered the parts and I found pre-printed enclosures, although I may take the print file to 3D printing service instead. I gotta see the price difference. If it's significantly cheaper to have it printed, I'll obviously go with that but if the difference is $5-$10 cheaper, I'll just order a pre-fab version from BTC Hardware Solutions. I like tinkering, and the SeedSigner appeals to that mindset.

As it is right now, my cold storage private key is just on paper sitting in a safe deposit box at the bank. I've been looking at hardware signers for a while now and have settled on the SeedSigner for the reasons I explained above. It's a purpose-built, DYI, open-source hardware and software device that provides for easy, air-gapped signing.

I may upgrade to something more sophisticated after using it for a while, but I very rarely send transactions from my cold wallet. Given its stateless nature, I could also use it for for signing transactions on my hot wallet as that wallet gets more use than the cold storage wallet. I'm just taking things slow.

It's like the Cadillac of hardware wallets. You can find its functionality in other, lower-priced signers, but it's almost a luxury experience.

The Passport Prime is going to be crazy when it's released. It's got a lot of other premium features, including that you can use it as YubiKey, and it has an encrypted file space to store important documents unrelated to transaction signing. And I think it can also be used as a FIDO2 key.

It's going to be expensive AF, probably in $500 range, but I think they can justify the price with all the features, and premium hardware.
