Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

What's your point? She was the AG performing the standard duties of her office. Why are you holding her up to this other standard just because she's also black?

Conceptual differences? I mean, they're both mechanisms for people to buy things using bitcoin. I think nostr marketplace is just individuals putting up individual items for sale while SR was more like an online mall where products could be purchased from multiple different vendors.

He pardoned his family and all those people because Trump telegraphed that he would be engaging in a campaign of retribution against them and their families. Those pardons were an effort to protect innocent people from the unbridled vengeance that Trump himself promised. And still, you're moving the goalposts to defend your indefensible position. I'm not talking about policy, or actions that are within the purview of the president. I'm talking about everything I detailed in my last comment. Instead of confronting that, you're moving the chairs and coming up with more bullshit whataboutism. It's so dishonest and I don't even know if you realize it. You're engaging in overt logical fallacies out some desperate need to defend this guy. It's exactly what I just described. This obsessive need to revise history, make things up, and deflect in an effort to shield him from any honest criticism.

Except it's not like every other president. You're ignoring the unique things he's done that literally no other president has ever done, or would have dared to do. The level of corruption, self-dealing, and grifting he's done as president, the total lack of ethics, as well as the assaults on the Constitution and rule of law are something that just isn't the norm, or what you find when investigating past presidencies. And there's this instinct from people to wave their hands and say, "Oh, other presidents have done worse", or "Oh, the other side does the same thing", and that's simply not true. Whether it's due to ignorance, or a partisan desire to write-off any criticism of their guy, it's dishonest, disingenuous, and just not reflective of reality.

That's not really the bar I'm comparing things to. I'm only commenting on my experience, based on my feed, and my follows. I'm not saying it's a reflection on Nostr as a whole.

The problem is that the bad things he does are so awful that recognizing whatever accidental good things he does only serves to normalize and carry water for him. Like, I'm sure Hitler held the door for someone at some point, but you wouldn't stop to recognize Hitler for that nominal gesture because of how dwarfed it is by his bad deeds.

I don't think he gives a shit about a legacy beyond renaming everything after himself. He's one of these people who thinks he's going to live forever. There won't be any point when he looks back at his life and decides to do something good for the country, or the people who come next. He's going to be a grifting, narcissistic shit bag until his last breath.

He made a similarly bigoted comment to me minutes after I joined nostr. First person I blocked.

I didn't know he was auto-blocked on Amethyst. He's the first person I blocked, within 2 hours of joining nostr. Glad to hear he's getting blocked client-wide by Amethyst! Total d-bag.

Yeah, no. The law precludes that. A pardon doesn't entitle you to damages, or compensation for pain and suffering stemming from your criminal actions. He was tried, and convicted. And by accepting the pardon he had to acknowledge guilt. There's just no basis for him receiving any money other than fines or court fees paid as part of his conviction.

I guess it depends on your feed and who you follow. I see plenty of ribbing and jokes, but when the rubber meets the road most people I've encountered are up Trump's butt.

No. That's gone and he's not getting it back. His pardon doesn't change the fact that those funds were the proceeds from a criminal enterprise that engaged in money laundering and narcotics trafficking. Just as a street dealer wouldn't get his seized funds back if he was found not guilty, Ross won't be getting the bitcoin that was seized as part of the criminal investigation and prosecution of his criminal conduct. The pardon only entitles him to his freedom, an expunged record, and any fines or court fees he paid as part of his conviction.

I know folks here are excited about legal support for bitcoin and the general pro-crypto regulatory environment under Trump, but I feel like he’s a shitcoin.

Look at this $TRUMP meme coin he launched: https://gettrumpmemes.com/

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/official-trump/

This is grift and fraud. The only people who should be happy about it are either folks who are getting in on the ponzi scheme and hoping they’ll get out before it collapses or people who are accelerationists who want to bring about the collapse of the current system as fast as possible. Who cares about the people hurt in the process.

I'm glad there's at least one other person on Nostr who recognizes that Trump is a corrupt, self-dealing charlatan who's going to enrich himself on the backs of the American taxpayers.

You can do that sorta shit when you were a multimillionaire by the time you were 1yo. It's really not some impressive feat.

Billie Jean! One of my favorite 80s movies!
