Catholic, husband, father of four, friend, bitcoiner. Central banking is evil. Currency debasement is wrong. Bitcoin is a moral imperative.

Still figuring out how to use Nostr, support and advice appreciated!

Bitcoin is a mathematical certainty 🧡

My 🍊💊-ing response to someone with a sharp mind inquiring about #Bitcoin:

———

About my reasoning, it has taken me a few years to reframe my mental models and gain further conviction. I try to summarise it:

- Bitcoin cannot be stopped (no controlling party)

- It cannot be censored (decentralised)

- It cannot be hacked or confiscated (public key cryptography)

- It cannot be regulated (well it can, but it cannot be enforced, since it lives outside the system)

- It cannot be co-opted (51% attack impossible even when the network was 100 times smaller)

- It doesn’t have counter-party risk (digital commodity)

- It has solved the double-spend problem forever (problems are solved only once)

- It has created the only digital scarcity it exists (one can argue even the only scarcity at all)

- it can be used anonymously (no need to ask permission)

- It is open source (no dependence on any "app")

- It is verifiable (the whole history of transfers and balances can be audited by anyone, anytime)

- it doesn't have a pre-mine (like most other cryptocurrencies have)

- it has a fixed supply forever (decentralised)

For me, it was when I rationally realised that all those statements are true at the same time and thought about the implications of all of them when put together, that I came to the conclusion that Bitcoin is inevitable.

This is so even without considering that fiat currencies need to be constantly depreciated over time (supply expanded) by definition, which they are, yet still people cannot realize from within the system that this means that their past time and efforts (their savings) are and will be constantly devalued.

To the point on the alternative cryptocurrencies, most of the statements above are not true for any other coin (most have a founder and company behind), currency or asset, let alone at the same time. Additionally, it would be impossible to replicate again all those characteristics at the same time without compromising on decentralisation, so zero chance for competitors.

For that I think Bitcoin will necessarily keep growing in its use case as the ultimate savings technology (current market cap $2T out of $900T of total assets), demonetising stocks, real estate (affordable living!), bonds, etc on its way, while also continue to provide a payment solution for those who need to transfer value without being censored, tracked, or who don't want to ask for permission (think criminals, but also people living under authoritarian regimes or sovereign individuals). This dynamic would repeat until the value of fiat currencies collapse, and people collectively decide to use Bitcoin not only as a store of value, but also as a means of payment and unit of account. The tipping point will be when the people and businesses you interact with don't want your fiat money.

Liked it? 🙏 Give it a like or repost. I’m new to #Nostr and would love to interact with more people

#Hispano

Well, what I can share is that not long ago I left wunderschönes Bayern for a place that shares some similarities with Cyprus, for the good of my family

Lucky that my job allows for that, but is still a fiat job, and I feel the struggle every second of my life. My humble stack does not allow for more, but Bitcoin helps me think in decades

So far I could build with my own hands a garden, a chicken house, a wooden house for the kids and things like that. An own house would be an amazing project

Funny story and a beacon to the nostr/bitcoin tribe 🙏 :

As some of you may know, I run an AI team at a large fiat health-tech company. The job has been sucking out my soul for the past few years, but I persisted because the paycheck was very comfortable and helped me keep the lights on at home. It's been brutal working 10-12 hour days under high stress, hardly being around for my teenage son's final years of childhood, and then trying to make time for my passion projects in bitcoin, nostr, and AI.

Last week, I had enough and finally did what I had been stopping myself from doing for over a year. I asked my SVP to lay me off. He laughed and said that's going to be really tough because I run a high visibilty team and the optics would be terrible if I was laid off. 😂

I pressed him some more and told him there was no way I could continue for much longer and he finally demurred and agreed to "see what he can do" 🤷‍♂️

I'm going to take him at his word and assume the sweet axe will fall by the end of June, plus about two months of severance. That's about as much runway I have to start making a dent with all the projects I want to dedicate my time to:

- NosFabrica: health data and interoperability on nostr

- Casa Nostra: an umbrella for all my creative projects

Why am I sharing this with you?

Because Nostr is where the smartest builders, thinkers, and gentleplebs hang out. This is my tribe and I am asking for ideas and guidance. Now that I have taken the leap, how do I make sure a net appears? I want to go full steam ahead on all the projects I listed above, but also want to ensure that I'm not rug-pulling my family.

Let’s go! I don’t know you but from what you describe I might be 2-5 years behind you, so you are the future me I’m chasing

I have a different set of interests, but being able to work in and for bitcoin is the ultimate ikigai kind of thing

I believe with POW you’ll add value, and this value will be compensated and you’ll be able to provide for your family in an honest way.

Keep it up

Monetary activity can never out compete spam, the same as shitcoins will never die.

Some will go. New will grow. Like weed in your garden, it will keep growing.

I’ve always been a moderate, and I’m switching to Knots. Because I’m an egoistic economic actor.

I am also very suspicious of the paternalistic (we’ll decide for you), aggressive (just propose a consensus rule change) and defeated (we can’t stop it anyhow) approach of Core.

But honestly, the good thing about being a pleb is that I’m not tied to any reputation I need to maintain. I’ll be equally critical when listening to both sides moving forward. No shame in being wrong.

I also like watching Bitcoin’s resilience real-time

Peace 🧡

Sunday reminders:

Central banking is a Ponzi scheme. Act accordingly.

Politicians are not the solution. Don’t idolize anyone.

Human reason will deform the perception of reality until it fits our preconceived solutions. Always keep an open mind and think critically.

IMO they are competing with Strategy. Leveraging Bitcoin’s growth to provide cantillioners with a higher return in a fiat-denominated unit of account

Me ha hecho entender tantas cosas! Difícil resumir, pero tres destacan:

Al final, todo se reduce a los incentivos
