very interested in non-feed approaches to navigating nostr

a couple tweaks and this very basic visualization could be quite powerful; right now it's just looking at quote reposts and replies of a small subset of recent events; imagine loading more interactions and going farther than tweets into the other stuff rabbit hole

I thought about such design for VR.

Imagine this with eye tracking and a way to navigate the universe with your hands or just your eyes.

It would allow the user to get to the content and not the other way around.

The only thing is notes should be aggregated in galaxy for a specific subject. You would need a centralized DVM for that.

absolutely possible, like your mute list is private, I don't know of a client that implemented it though

Interoperability is an interesting animal.

In theory, all nostr apps can work with all other apps. The spec is there, the data is on the relays, so everything is there.

But, lets say a nostr social media app decides to use nutsack, so their new users directly can receive sats.

Their nuts/ecash is on nostr.

But what if they are not aware of this, and they navigate to a new client, that does not do this?

Magically their sats got disappeared.

I guess, this could be aided by having "support" in such apps, which at the end is a public chat or something.

Then they have their usual way of asking, but a nostr way of handling.

Probably stupid. Sorry, having my 3rd ☕.

I see Nostr as an experiment in what happen when you empower users with their own cryptography.

Right now NIPs function as a free market of ideas, over time the most effective ones will become increasingly interoperable, and less popular will remains niche.

I'd say everything will never be completely interoperable, as some client will push for more decentralisation, other for speed, etc. You as a Nostrich will have the freedom to choose how you want to explore the Nostrverse

DNS requiring 48 hours to propagate is a lie

It is a free market of ideas indeed. But if competing choices persist for many years, like three types of DM systems or two ways of doing git, then interoperability between those clients is totally lost.

Eventually a clearer standard full of the most optimized choices should be established to regain that universal compatibility.

I think we’re getting closer to being able to map out that new standard thanks to all the experimentation that has occurred over the last couple years.

the best systems will emerge, I agree it is a bit of a chaos, especially in DMs, but it's being figured out and we'll see what nostriches prefers.

It is bizarre that a bunch of open-source devs created value out of nothing, and now all the big institutions in the world are fighting to buy a tiny part of it in the hopes of justifying how good of capital allocators they are.

I'd say Nostr is about exploring what is possible once the user take ownership of its cryptography.

the NIP repo is a free market of idea built around this predicate. Interoperability will happen naturally around the best ideas.
