In case we ever wondered why #Nintendo is so rabidly aggressive against mods, roms & any other homebrew stuff with their old games. It's because they just keep on revamping & re-releasing their past games to get another generation of gamers to pay them again for the same game. 🙃

Most of my fellow white Canadians who get tested are vit D deficient. Many of us take a supplement.

Yes, I take a vit D supplement daily. Plus it's not like every available inch of skin is covered in sunblock. Just the main sunburn spots - nose, cheeks, back of neck, top of arms. Most the rest of my body isn't protected well. Plus we have a pool so I'm outside so much & don't reapply anywhere near reliably enough that I usually end up sunkissed but not burnt. 😆

Worse as in the chemicals in sunscreen are more dangerous (cancer etc) than the sun itself.

That's a thing!? Just had my very sunburned brother tell me just yesterday that he hasn't been wearing it regularly because he thinks it might be worse than the sun. 😓

Good point! My brother also wondered if those big companies just outbid all the more niche advertisers, so even though the data to more specifically target me exists... it still comes down to who will pay most for those ad plays.

Maybe I've just so confused Google by having a clearly female profile but watching a lot of male-typical content like tech, fitness, construction, gaming, etc.... that Google has just utterly failed to put me in a category. 🤷‍♀️

They haven't even figured out that if I've seen an ad 100+ times (which I have with the money transfer service) and I haven't clicked the ad or visited their site by now... Then I'm PROBABLY not a good target for this ad & it's time to try another.

Is this not just very basic & obvious?

If I have to keep watching a few seconds of ads before I can skip... I'd at least like to be shown a variety of products & services I might not be aware of. Broaden my horizons or something.

Maybe I disabled a "personalized ads" checkbox somewhere.. but then wouldn't they fall back to matching the ads to the content of the video? Like broadcast TV used to do.

Like if I'm watching a programming video shouldn't I see some ads for - crazy thought - technology? Or if I watch an exercise video I should see ads for fitness or athletic stuff?

All this profiling, tracking & analyzing Google does... and they are just super bad at advertising.

It's insulting really.

With all the surveillance & data collection we online users are subjected to.... you'd think it would at least work well.

I make no effort to block ads & trackers on YouTube besides my usual adblocking extensions - worse I use their native Android app which I'm sure tracks the shit out of my viewing habits.

And yet the only ads I ever see on Youtube - over & over are for a service to send money overseas & a big online shopping site. Over & over.

Oh! Apparently these are called "Workforce Planning Boards" in Ontario. 😁

A lot of Canadian cities have gov funded employment related organizations that do employment related data collection, training, placement, recruiting etc. They often have local job boards.

For example:
