NEW UPDATE: The Taraia Object Expedition has been postponed until 2026.

The delay stems from ongoing permit approval processes requiring additional clearance from the Kiribati government, and the onset of the South Pacific cyclone season, which poses safety risks for a late-2025 departure.

The mission’s plans remain unchanged otherwise.

UPDATE: The expedition will start on November 4, 2025

A joint team from Purdue University (where Earhart worked in the 1930s and which funded her plane), the Purdue Research Foundation, and the Archaeological Legacy Institute ispreparing for a three-week expedition to investigate the site.

The Almendres Cromlech near Évora in Portugal is an 8,000-year-old stone circle, the biggest in the Iberian Peninsula.

The site is on an east-facing hill. From there, only one mountain gap is visible, and during the equinoxes, the sun sets directly in that gap.

There’s also a menhir at the hilltop that has a notch in which the spring equinox sunrise can be seen.

The Kofun tombs, preserved for over 1,600 years, are now surrounded by modern-day Osaka.

The colossal keyhole-shaped Daisen Kofun is specifically oriented toward the sunrise at the winter solstice.

It is one of the three largest ancient tombs in the world, alongside the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in China.

Nostr will fail to the extent that people can't tell an impersonator from the real thing. The number of reports I get about my impersonator indicates to me that nostr is failing. But it doesn't have to be this way! Web of trust fixes this.

Let's play a game of "spot the impersonator". I created a fresh impersonator account with a valid NIP 05 from nostrplebs and all the same profile data. I didn't bother to clone my notes or create a bunch of sock puppet followers, but that could easily be done, and would improve the resemblance.

Coracle:

Pretty good if I do say so myself. Social trust is shown in two separate ways: web of trust indicator and followers tab (although followers is not complete or sybil resistant).

0xchat:

Exactly the same, other than NIP 05 address, which I don't consider any sort of validation at all. This is a classic phishing maneuver, and recently allowed nostr:nprofile1qyfhwumn8ghj7am0wsh82arcduhx7mn99uqjzamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwd5xzamw09jkzem9wghxxmmd9a5kucn00qqjqamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwd5xzamw09jkzem9wghxxmmd9a3ksct5qy38wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnndpshwmnev4skwetj9e3k7mf0da6hgcn00qqjxamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwd5xzamw09jkzem9wghxxmmd9ac8y6tkv96x2qpqclk6vc9xhjp8q5cws262wuf2eh4zuvwupft03hy4ttqqnm7e0jrqlg4lcf's impersonator to trick some people.

Yakihonne:

Some social indicators are shown, but are not sybil resistant. They're also down the page a bit, and might not be noticed by users.

Jumble:

No social proof indicated at all — the tabs at the bottom can easily be faked by the impersonator.

Nostter:

No social proof, and failed to validate the NIP 05 for the real user.

Nostrudel:

Nostrudel does something original in showing the public key color. But how often are you going to memorize a user's color? I'd argue this is even worse than nothing because it obscures the NIP 05, which _might_ tip you off.

Iris:

Iris shows wot-vetted "known followers", which is good. In other places, a wot-based check mark is shown next to user avatars. This should probably be added to the profile page too, but still, pretty good.

Amethyst:

Amethyst shows some social proof, but it's hard to tell exactly what those profile pictures mean.

Primal:

Like yakihonne, social proof is visible, but not sybil-resistant.

Let's take a look at search now. Some clients do a much better job at this, some do a MUCH worse job.

Coracle:

WOT indicators, correct sorting, complete results. Arguably, the impersonators should be filtered out entirely, but I personally prefer to have them included.

Jumble:

Same thing, minus WOT indicators. Not bad.

Nostrudel:

It's a pass, but I'm not sure if duplicates are filtered out on purpose or not. The check marks indicate NIP 05 validation, not wot validation.

Yakihonne:

Only shows the legit version, along with a badge (I'm unsure if it's NIP 05 or something else). Pretty good.

Iris:

Very limited results, WOT-based check, pretty good.

Primal:

Eliminates impersonators, show follower count, pretty good (though not sybil resistant in all cases).

The winners are Iris and Coracle for web of trust indicators, and Primal and Yakihonne in the "global view of the network" category. I'd love to see this get better though, and not just because I am now famous enough to have an impersonator. WOT calculations are low-hanging fruit, especially with the vertex DVM by nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qyt8wumn8ghj7ct4w35zumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpzemhxue69uhk6mr9dd6juun9v9k8jtnvdakz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmny9uqzpa5rapcrtaadfazwpwvvl0v4xlskg4df9nfcem7yevcaka2h7hhjm9zju5 around. Getting this right is a core value proposition of nostr and is worth the effort.

Thanks for following me nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn! Couldn’t believe it at first, but the badges in nostr:npub1n0stur7q092gyverzc2wfc00e8egkrdnnqq3alhv7p072u89m5es5mk6h0 by nostr:npub1n0sturny6w9zn2wwexju3m6asu7zh7jnv2jt2kx6tlmfhs7thq0qnflahe sure helped in distinguishing the real from the fake. It’s also neat that there’s an option for disabling them.

Carved from dense granite, the Barabar Caves in India have mirror-like walls with a smoothness 9 times higher than modern polished granite.

The Gopika chamber has a surface that is 100 times flatter than a newly paved road.

Even though each cave has its own unique dimensions, there’s a 34.4 Hz echo produced at the Vapiyaka, Karan Chopar and Gopika chambers and 34.5 Hz at Sudama.

Thank you!! 🙏 promised that I’m not here for spamming

I find most of these locations by hitting the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ button on Google Earth, and posting them here is my way of keeping track of them—there are a lot!!

Feel free to reach out if you have any noteworthy location to share too

Not my most clear statement, I’ll give you that

This is why I’ve posted a second message in the thread to try and clarify it (see screenshot)

I will also soon be sharing the exact coordinates of both the Watch Tower and the sunrise Summer Solstice market for everyone to be able to verify it themselves

Please excuse me if my first post was difficult to understand

I hope the second post explains it better but I will try again

What is important to understand is that America Stonehenge is a circle of rocks

There’s a Watch Tower in the middle, and from there, you can tell which day of the year it is by looking where the sun rises or sets

On the day of the summer solstice, the viewpoint from the Watch Tower to rock that marks the sunrise on that day leads all the way to the Altar Rock at the Stonehenge site in England

I’ll get back to you with the exact coordinates of both the Watch Tower and the sunrise Summer Solstice market so that you can verify it yourself :)

In the meantime, this is a great video to watch if you’d like to learn more: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mZhmxhpogpw

At America's Stonehenge, ancient observers used a central Watch Tower and surrounding stone markers to track the sun. On the summer solstice, the sun rises in alignment with a specific marker.

This same line of sight, extended across the Atlantic, intersects the Altar Stone at Stonehenge in England.

If you extend a straight line from Stonehenge’s Altar Stone westward across the Atlantic Ocean, it intersects precisely with the stone marking the summer solstice sunrise alignment at America's Stonehenge in Salem, New Hampshire.

This can be demonstrated through Google Earth.

We’re two months away from potentially solving the 1937 mystery of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan’s disappearance during their round-the-world flight.

In August 2025, an expedition will visit the Taraia Peninsula on Nikumaroro Island in the South Pacific to investigate whether an object spotted in satellite images is their plane.

Discovered by chance in 2001 by Vietnamese miners, the Phú Diên tower had been buried under sand dunes for nearly 1,000 years.

It was likely built in the 8th century by the Cham civilization using fired clay bricks, interlocked without mortar.

It's located on a beach just 50 meters from the Pacific Ocean and is now in a glass enclosure to protect against coastal erosion.

Its purpose remains unclear, as it lacks carvings of deities that would indicate it was a religious site.
