Smoked Pork Shoulder (pressure canned 13 months ago), Spicy Queso (water bath canned 8 months ago) and Vacuum Sealed Corn Tortillas (4 months ago) all from my pantry! Soon to have my tomato, jalapeño & scallions from the garden too! Good Eating!

Good morning nostrworld! Thunderstorms have rolled in, and we've been without power since 4am. No ETA on when it will return. So I dug out my handy dandy butane stove, heated up some water, and did pour-over for coffee this morning. So we had a butane stove, pourover cones/filters, and battery operated lamps so we could see in the dark. Trying to decide how long to wait before we fire up the generators to run the freezers and fridges. Are you prepared for a power outage? #grownostr #preparedness #coffeechain

Today the problem is the solution ! Was listening to the tsp episode today on nurserys while slaving away at my off farm job at a nursery haha. I work at a flower greenhouse and over the past couple weeks convinced my boss to let me take the plants that die and wast potting soil, which is literally going to be more value than my paycheck with inflation haha. It was encouraging to be doing something they talked about in the episode while listening. I also found some azola growing as a weed in some spikes that I am going to be throwing in the pond and wont have to buy :)

I'm excited! I'm going to listen to a guy tonight that was one of the lawyers for the Bundy's and he's a constitutional lawyer so it should be a good listen. Also it's a out of my comfort zone thing, I'm an introvert and my husband is working tonight so I'm going by myself.

In case you don't know who the Bundy's are, they are a ranching family from the west coast of the US (Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon). They had the federal government come in and try taking their grazing rights on land that they've grazed since prior to it being part of the US. The feds rounded up and killed several heads of their cattle.

They tried to peacefully protest and the feds came in armed and when the protesters started to leave, one of the feds shot and killed one of the protesters. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) tried to say that the Bundy's and the protesters fired first, but their own footage shows that the BLM officer fired first.
