I am rude, because I have been treated (unjustly) like utter crap by a lot of people. If you are nice to me, I will very likely be nice to you.

Some of the intelligence and "smartness" of children is dismissed. The comments they make is (obviously) always based on something. But if you don't care to understand and are predetermined to correct, you won't notice. Also, a lot of adults are a lot more stupid than they think.

I think a lot is magical, it's just that we forget the magic when we see how it works. There is a feeling of magic in unexpected outcomes, results and solutions, for example. We don't take the magic away if we understand, but do forget to look at it with those eyes.

If you understand a system that produces a complex outcome, like natural selection, the magic "remains" a bit longer because you have to train your mind to think thru an (long-running) iterative process before a comptehensive result emerges.

Infinite supply, no doubt

In the nineties you had these (supposed?) hoaxes of "bonsai" cats in bottles. This one produces itself.

I very regularly put on some documentary or interview to listen to while coding. I just paused the interview of Joe Rogan with John Carmack, and this is the *first* time that I'm like .. wow, things are quiet all of a sudden. πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

You're missing the point. There is malicious intent and action.

And also, some speakers like Richard Dawkins tend to attract a lot of nonsensicle discussions in the Q&A after his talks, especially 10 years ago. The blinding incorrect, unsound arguments and relentless pushing for it, opened my eyes in one particular way.

If you look/listen carefully, you'll notice that Dawkins is quite skilled at accurately describing/explaining what he means, to emphasize key points, or to ridicule in order to emphasize the part that's silly, as opposed to ridiculing a person. The responses that are then misplaced, are also eye-opening.

Look for around 10 years ago

Same with me, but if I'm fair .. I think it didn't start with this kind of truths. It started when I was younger, on a forum with a lot of techies, where some very skilled developers were discussing complicated topics. I realized that one can discuss all kinds of things, without forcing anything on another, just exchange of ideas. Where you're stimulated to think, and allowed to disagree and discuss. I tried to learn. I continued to learn, and Zeitgeist was on that path πŸ˜‹ (also VPRO Backlight documentaries on the (collapse of the) financial system)

This seems amusing, but now you extrapolate, and they're traveling universes and every fucking time they ask the question a frustrated citizen gives them this answer. πŸ˜‹

My inner child doesn't show itself to people who aren't worthy. There are too many of those around.

There are assumptions hidden in the choice for this quote if it is anything but arbitrarily selected.
