I think it’s easy to say just mute the person. But if you don’t have the lived experience of being a woman, or being part of a marginalized group, you will never understand our experience, especially what it’s like to be on nostr.

I love nostr AND it’s challenging to be here because it feels like (again, from my perspective) another man’s world; built by men, for men, that only men will truly benefit from (if you feel defensive after reading that, you may want to self-reflect on why).

I understand the purpose and updates being made consistently. But without some type of protection from the /harassment/hate, I just can’t see nostr expanding the ways it’s envisioned.

I appreciate the men on here that have been kind to me and have my back. You’re the only reason I’ve stayed 🫂

that someone doesn't always have to be you. many have produced amazing work and left it in the public domain for everyone to enjoy for free without any limitations. they are the ones that paid the cost, and to many of them, the cost is worth it.

there are 100% free (as in gratis and as in freedom) tools out there for people to use and enjoy, it's just not the norm and don't ever expect it coming from for-profit companies, those are not known to be altruistic.

This is true. But very few projects of any size survive for long without significant investment from either industry or a community.

I am grateful every day as a dev, I benefit from a lot of other people’s work, and try to sponsor as often as I can afford. Trying to get work to do the same.

I'm thinking of keeping a clone of my self-hosted vaultwarden server at home on a vps. I think if I run the VW docker container on the vps and rclone the vw-data directory from home to the vps it can hold a redundant instance in case my ISP rugs me.

Do that and use Tailscale, and it wouldn’t be hard to switch servers if you’re on the road in a pinch.

Never met someone who pays for Photoshop. Maybe they make up for this with business use prices.

I pay for just it, mostly for work. I use Lightroom at home when I crack out the Nikon though.

Luminar Neo is also good for photos, same problem. I get it through SetApp though.
