Unfortunately, this is true. Many of the black men I served with either came from a poor family or were raised by a single parent. Constructed state narratives have only promoted this.

I know the feeling. Everything will be fine, in the end, though. The first few years after I was discharged were very frenetic, to say the least (having two infants crying all the time, work, daily commutes, business trips, doctors appointments, arguing😅, cooking, family holidays etc). My late wife and I were constantly trying to find some alone time where we didn't feel like zombies lol.
I like busy days a lot more then I used to. Why? Because, since my kids don't get out of school till mid-afternoon, I have much more free time now. And since I don't work anymore, I've been more careful with how I use that time. Short periods of meditation (10-15 minutes or so) throughout the day and a healthy diet and exercise routine have helped me a lot over the past 13 years. I also like to cook at random times🤷😁. I find it very relaxing.
