You could imagine that as more people start to use #bitcoin that the mempool fees would start to go up to a point which makes it uneconomical for most people to transact on base layer...

I guess that people will need tools like #Lightning and and variety of custodians to hold their #BTC for them. If they then manage to acquire enough BTC to make it worthwhile then they would self custody it and settle on the base layer.

I think that makes sense because there is a learning curve involved for people starting out with BTC. Most people will take the custodian route first with a small amount of money and then later upgrade to the self custody route when/if that time arrives.

You can argue that a portion of the #energy that would be saved is from the financial sector.

Example being that there would be less of a need for asset managers and venture capitalists and the like because to a large extent all you would need is #bitcoin to store your wealth.

People in those professions would still be required in the future, but to a much lesser degree than today. Today, those professions are crowded with politics and ponzi like mechanics which should to some extent be washed away on a #bitcoinstandard.

The true asset managers and venture capitalists and the like who genuinely increase the pool of value created by us hoomans will remain. However, those that remain will use #bitcoin as their denominator.

Ok here goes:

1.think of your lightning wallet as your “bill fold” you carry only a small amount of cash(cash for the weekend, or night out), DON’T KEEP MUCH HERE, like $100 -$200 just like a bill fold, rug pull won’t affect much.

2. Think of your “software” self-custody wallet as your checking account. This could be something like “brave wallet” or coinbase wallet. But must be self custody. Keep a month or so salary here.

3.think of your hardware/cold storage as your savings account. This is your NEST EGG.

If you think that way, fees/convenience dominate the lightning wallet choice. And just like loosing your billfold (it sucks) but won’t affect your destiny.

Features/convenience dominate the “software” wallet. This wallet is self custody and keeps a month or so of working cash. Typically hooked up to an exchange for moving coin in and out, and sending to your LN wallet.

If we went to a #bitcoinstandard, I'm not saying things would be perfect. The transition could be painful or it could be pain-free depending on your personal situation.

#Bitcoin in of it self if not anything that special. What makes it special is it's ability for us humans (or machines) to co-ordinate with each other so we can get mutually beneficial outcomes.

That comes back to my point of being able to harness #energy effectively. Bitcoin could be a highly useful tool over fiat money that can allow us hoomans to utilize energy effectively.

Only a tiny portion of people consistently create content. They still have some conversations but not the same level of production value or curation you’d expect from a more mature social network.

Since people who post are usually a small fraction, it takes a lot of people on the platform to produce a decent amount of content to consume. The majority of things we consumed on Twitter likely came from a handful of “super creators”.

What I’m saying is that we need a lot more users just to get a handful of consistent creators. It’s a numbers game.

Thing is, nothing stops anyone from adding to the network. If you are looking for specific kind of content, YOU could be the person to create or curate it. And naturally this has benefits for people who take time to do this - they’ll acquire a following faster. There are advances to being an early user and bigger advantages for early creators. That is, if you believe nostr will continue expanding.

Right now it’s looking like it’ll be a gradual ramp up and not a sudden explosion of users. The dopamine triggering centralized behemoths are highly optimized for that one thing and we just don’t have that on nostr (yet).

It’s a subjective experience depending on what you do and what you like. Personally I have a blast every day but I’m not on for empty consumption of news or any type of media.

If nostr clients have made this much progress in under a year, I wonder what they will be like in 10?

Furthermore, everything in #fiat based financial markets is a waste of time.

What you need are financial markets on a #bitcoin standard.

Can you imagine the energy saving and productivity enhancements that could come from not wasting your time on shit #companies, shit #debt and #shitcoins.
