Tomorrow: watching for other nodes on my drive, and range testing around the farm.

Tonight's submission for #pipestr is Missouri Malta.
It is an aromatic blend from the Missouri Meerschaum Company flavored with 14 different varieties of vanilla.
The paradox of aromatic blends is that everyone in the room smells the flavor that was added to the tobacco, but the smoker often just tastes hot air. But this particular aromatic blend has a mild and pleasant Virginia/Burley tobacco flavor and and a very pleasing vanilla room note that gradually changes as you smoke through the bowl.

It's namesake, The Malta, was a steamboat that sank in the Missouri River and was rediscovered a few years ago buried in a cornfield as the river has shifted since its sinking.

Yeah. It's very handy and usable, but I have a lot of experience with large and very large knives.

I have returned home after a week in the high desert of New Mexico. Minimal phone service, lots of silence and solitude, several miles walked with a loaded pack. I highly recommend.
Unfortunately, due to unusually warm and dry weather and herd numbers being down in our unit, the elk were not moving and my hunting buddies were unable to fill their tags. Of course, we still had a great time.

Good morning.
I'm currently camped on top of a ridge at 7000 ft in the backcountry of New Mexico, scouting for elk.
Two days of driving to get to our hunting area. Then we started or trip with a night hike under the Northern lights, climbed a rocky, washed out road to the top of the ridge and set up camp for the night.
Today we will glass this area for elk and decide if we want to stay here or scout elsewhere.
I will be off grid for most of the trip, but since I have phone signal on this ridge, I thought a #gm post was in order.
Don't get too caught up in all the craziness and online drama. Go play outside.
