I noticed that too! Why indeed? One of the clients must be misbehaving? It probably adds the manually typed hashtag in the tags without removing the hashtag symbol. The tags area adds the hashtag symbol back.
I can imagine it was scary back then, such a new technology and it was already over 10 dollars...
